That will be me. ?2 bet on all of the following games to have both teams scoring:

Chesterfield

Stoke

Wigan

Barnsley

Bristol City

Millwall

Swansea

Brentford

Huddersfield

Wallsall

Shrewsbury

Stevenage

Highly unlikely it will come in, BUT, if it does, I'll be ?3105 richer!!

Grand National Day. And Aintree is hotter than LA....

I make no apologies for betting each year in this lottery of lotteries because my other half loves it.

I'm Niche Market at 30's . MrsBen has wisely ignored all previous form and gone for the Mull inspired Calgary Bay at 42-1.

Time to head to Betfred to annoy the grizzled regulars (who'll all still be there today even though they'll tell you its a mugs race). Enjoy.....

2000

Have backed Frankel and Pathfork. Frankel win would cover the cost of the Pathfork bet.

Frankel is the obvious choice (I like him as he was one of our Newmarket jackpot winners last year) but is too short to risk much money on. Pathfork has won on GF ground already.

Either of them win and I'd be happy.

An amazing performance. Spreadeagled the field. What it says about his Derby chances, who knows, he will have to adapt his style but he is class for sure. Left them all standing. Hes from Galileo so should have a mile and a half in him, but not at that speed for sure. Another great prospect though.

Has anyone ever embarked on a multi locational chain bet to create something from nothing? Yesterday I found a long hidden ?30 in some old jeans I was throwing out. I reckoned this was free money and so stuck it into my Betfair account and rather luckily won BIG in three spins on online roulette (clearly not recommended). I then checked out, stuck half my winnings back into my bank and have transferred the rest to lay Higgins in tonight's final.

Snooker is usually dull as dishwater but I'm much enjoying watching Judd Trump. He's behind (just) but either way, and thanks to my lucky Levis, I'm ?400 up. Or ?800 odd if the young chap makes it.

I call this "random at home chain betting" and next week plan to start behind my sofa and head for the Champions League via some Greyhounds.

I'll let you know how I get on.....

    • I’m not a Gail’s fan but there’s no reason a business shouldn’t open on Christmas Day. However, nobody should be compelled to work the day which, given the widespread coverage of Gail’s questionable employment practices, has to be a possibility here.  The only business I ever use on the 25th is maybe a pub and that’s a rarity these days but buses running would be very welcome for visiting etc. But the swings in the park should definitely remain chained up. Are parks even open on Christmas Day?
    • To be honest, pal, it's not good being a fan of a local business and then not go there. One on hand, the barber shop literally next door to Romeo Jones started serving coffee. The Crown and Greyhound and Rocca serve coffee. Redemption Coffee opened up not far away, and then also Megan's next door to that. DVillage was serving coffee (but wasn't very popular), as was Au Ciel (which is). Maybe also Heritage Cheese, I don't know. There's also Flotsam and Jetsam doing coffee and sandwiches at Dulwich Picture Gallery in the other direction. The whole of Dulwich Village serves coffee. And yet on the other hand, there are enough punters to support all good coffee shops. With the exception of Rocca and Megan's (which are both big spaces) and C&G (which does coffee like everything else - slow and with bad service), all these places regularly get queues out the door. Gail's often has big queues and yet very few people crossed the street to Romeo Jones (which was much better)... Half the staff at Gail's are perfectly fine and efficient. The other half are pretty offhand and rude. It's certainly not welcoming or friendly service. But they're certainly hard working, and no doubt raking the money in for Luke Johnson...
    • Well according to a newspaper article, Gail’s is opening 10 shops in London,,, yup Dulwich is named 10/5 I seem to recall with others in London opening at 7 am…!, Guess that is to capture workers coming off all night shift. Offering free mince pies until they run out.. So very sad to hear about Romeo Jones… been a customer since the opening, any idea where Patrick has gone or details… please pm me.    What is going to be in its place…. Will be around in Jan…umm village is changing….
