I know the next bit but its slightly different to your version.

  • 2 weeks later...

Probably unlucky to concede only the one considering we were in double figures for the on target chances. The sending off meant that the hammers 'parked the bus' which was fair enough actually.

The run in is going to be very exciting if a little nerve racking

I heard this too and have to say I was (pleasantly) surprised. All we need to do now is keep 11 players on the pitch for a change and tell young Morrison not to be such a dick.

That didn't take long, he's not even played a game yet :)

I've just caught up with this sorry little tale on the beeb sport site.

3 things:

1. This little turd seems to nicely encapsulate everything that is making me fall out of love/lose patience with the game.

2. Should the BBC refer to the teams as Red Devils and Irons, what the hell is this, Shoot!?

3. That new look is just ..... awfullllll.....I mean reallly....reallllly.....bad!!!!

In that vein maybe he'll try and convince the FA he was calling his twitterfoe a bundle of twigs or a dish of pork offal or he could always rely on these guys for a back-up...

I remember getting the 1st issue of Goal. My mum allowed me to replace my regular order at the newsagents of the Beano for this. The centre spread was usually a picture of a different football squad, all of which went up on my bedroom wall. This story had a sad ending though. I allowed my older brother to cut pictures out of some issues for a scrapbook of our favourite team. When completed he claimed sole rights to the scrapbook. I complained to mummy and he then cut all of 'my pictures' out and gave them back to me. This made a mess of his scrapbook and left me with useless pictures. There's a moral to this story I'm sure. I just haven't worked it out yet.

    • This week's edition of The Briefing Room I found really useful and impressively informative on the training aspect.  David Aaronovitch has come a long way since his University Challenge day. 😉  It's available to hear online or download as mp3. https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m002n7wv In a few days time resident doctors -who used to be known as junior doctors - were meant to be going on strike. This would be the 14th strike by the doctors’ union since March 2023. The ostensible reason was pay but now the dispute may be over without more increases to salary levels. The Government has instead made an offer to do something about the other big issue for early career doctors - working conditions and specialist training places. David Aaronovitch and guests discuss what's going on and ask what the problem is with the way we in Britain train our doctors? Guests: Hugh Pym, BBC Health Editor Sir Andrew Goddard, Consultant Gastroenterologist Professor Martin McKee, Professor of European Public Health, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine Mark Dayan, Policy Analyst, Nuffield Trust. Presenter: David Aaronovitch Producers: Caroline Bayley, Kirsteen Knight, Cordelia Hemming Production Co-ordinator: Maria Ogundele Sound Engineers: Michael Regaard, Gareth Jones Editor: Richard Vadon
