I reckon whoever wrote the musical that the song 'Kids' is featured in probably had kids in mind when he wrote:

Kids!

I don't know what's wrong with these kids today!

Kids!

Who can understand anything they say?

Kids!

They are so ridiculous and immature!

I don't see why anybody wants 'em!

Just you wait and see

Kids!

Kids! They are just impossible to control!

(Soon you'll be old enough to be)

Kids! With their awful clothes and their rock an' roll!

(Another teenage delinquent)

Why can't they be like you were,

Perfect in every way?

What's the matter with kids to--

Kids!

What the devil's wrong with these kids today?

Kids!

Who could guess the they would turn out that way!

Why can't they be like we were,

Perfect in every way?

What's the matter with kids?

What's the matter with kids?

What's the matter with kids today?

I generally find them annoying when I'm fast asleep and they jump on top of you - that is really really annoying. I'm a deep sleeper and probably have had a few beers the night before, could really do with an additional 3 hours kip and to be woken up you feel - ok the day has started and its going to be a long time before you get any more kip. Apart from that first in the morning thing, kids are (mostly) good fun.

Oh and the first 6 months after the first one is born - thats takes quite a bit of coming to terms with - your life as you know it - is over. It gets better tho.

I think NOFX put it best in the song, What's the matter whith kids today?

There's something wrong with the kids in my neighborhood

They always listen to their moms

They disregard civil disobedience

They'd rather do what they're told

They don't drink, or fuck, or fight

They sit home, and read, expand their minds

There's something wrong with the kinds in my cul de sac

Their always goin to church

They dress well and they're

Speaking articulate

They show eachother respect

They're never late, don't smoke

or break rules

They eat right, study hard

They like school

There's something wrong with the kids in my neighborhood

Or perhaps they were just being cantankerous old fuckers.

    • It says on the Southwark site that the decision on extending the event to two weekends, with a large slice of park inaccessible to the public for over a month, is imminent ( publication due 31January). Does anyone know the decision?
    • Hello. My two kids and myself have both used micro scooters for years now (oldest is 10). They are long lasting and you can get spare wheels and parts which is good so I'd recommend them. Ebay will have lots including refurbished ones. We had the bigger size 3 wheel only briefly, the maxi, used it about 1-2 years for scooting to school before child wanted 2 wheels. He's been speedy on 2 wheels since at least age 7. So you're at a tricky age to pick for.  I guess think about her ability and height.
    • So where have you both decided on? Made a shortlist yet or even gone? - sure I am not the only one who is keen to know since your posting has certainly thrown up interesting venues or is this in-depth research before early dinner??
