Brendan
Apparently broad is in because he can bat too. Although to be honest Harmison also has the ability to survive 40 something deliveries for a handful of runs (as this was the most significant contribution broad made last time) in a desperate attempt to force a draw when the real batters all failed miserably.Edit: In accordance with the prophecy. Brendan
You?re right though Keef, the top order need to do their job proper like this game. England are coming out to bat first. Fear 'n boozin
Think I'd have to go with Broad over Harmy. Ok, Harmison's got a bit of form going, but I have zero confidence he can carry that into a test. An ashes test. As well as the top order staying in, think I'd also like to see some teeth in the bowling - I'd say Anderson needs to do something this match! Brendan
Well Harmison will either bowl shit or bowl like a demon possessed and get 10 wickets. Broad will just bowl shit. So I suppose he?s at least consistent. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/6921-the-ashes-2009/page/8/#findComment-225815 Share on other sites
Fear 'n boozin
lol! Yes, he could, but I still don't think he would. Though I have to admit I can't think of any other pace bowlers. I imagine he'll be in the squad for the next test if we continue to bowl with like we did in Cardiff. But I?d ditch Anderson. Keet ? who?d you have instead of Cook? Fear 'n boozin
Yeah, I'm a Key fan, was annoyed he didn't get into the squad for that silly cup competition a few weeks back. Brendan
We need more fat batsmen. It?s basic physics, there is more of them obstructing the wicket. No one has ever been dismissed belly-before-wicket now have they? Fat batsmen with more facial hair is what the game needs. Fear 'n boozin
lets be honest, you mean we need more of this...http://www.virginmedia.com/images/boon.jpgCouldn't agree more. Should be short too - better balance. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/6921-the-ashes-2009/page/8/#findComment-225858 Share on other sites
Brendan
Who was the last player with a tache to play for England? Jack Russell perhaps? Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/6921-the-ashes-2009/page/8/#findComment-225863 Share on other sites
Keef
Not sure who I'd replace Cook with, which is basically why he is pretty sure of his place. I actually quite like him, but think he needs a couple of good innings. Fear 'n boozin
a class act. I''ve no idea, when did he stopped playing? I doubt there's been anyone since then. There really should be more facial hair in cricket. Surely it's part of the games heritage, can't the selctors enforce it? Even if that's just a rule for wicket keepers.Agree with you on Cook. But that sums up how I feel about Broad too. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/6921-the-ashes-2009/page/8/#findComment-225885 Share on other sites
Brendan
Harmison has a beard. Broad can't even grow one yet. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/6921-the-ashes-2009/page/8/#findComment-225887 Share on other sites
Keef
Cook just made his half century. Not a bad way to start proving his worth. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/6921-the-ashes-2009/page/8/#findComment-225889 Share on other sites
Brendan
Well cook just made 50 off 80 balls. Although by all accounts it was off some pretty rubbish bowling. Brendan
Neither is shaving. So 126-0 after the first session of play today. Only 59 left before we see how this contest ends up. I love test cricket. Marmora Man
Not a bad morning session - Cook with a 50, no wickets and all Australian bowlers looking average at best. Not too many chances given by either Strauss or Cook - both seemed to remember, when tempted, that their task was:a. To get to lunch without losing their wicketb. To grind down the bowlingc. To get in and stay in.Here's hoping the weather tomorrow allows a good day's play and that my wallet can stand the Lord's beer prices.
