newgirl
I'm just wondering which nurseries have a good reputation round here. Are there any that I should be thinking about putting my baby's name down for way in advance? Also, I haven't got my head around how all this works, but I believe there are some state nurseries in ED? Are they any good and do they work out significantly cheaper than private nurseries (sorry - I'm completely ignorant about all this but am I right in thinking you get a bit of financial help from the government with private nurseries anyway - tax credits or something like that?)Thanks! lorraineliyanage
Gumboots is a Community Nursery although not significantly cheaper, but worth a try.If you search for nurseries, there have been many discussions about the pros and cons of the various nurseries in ED Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/6938-good-nurseriesstate-nurseries/#findComment-222058 Share on other sites

huncamunca
Not sure what you mean by State nurseries. There is a state nursery school near Dulwich Woods but you need to be in the catchment area. Many of the local schools also have nurseries offering 15 hours per week for children aged 3 and 4. Again catchment area applies and you cannot register them before they are 2, I believe.. plimsoul
the early years centre is run by the borough therefore state run. i think ultimately as much as it's a lovely idea that one has a choice you end up where there is actually a space available.
