sorry man .... they probably took it over the road to Boss Man ... I would be kicking myself if I had lost that ammount , so sympathy to you

So many to reply to! Where do I start?! I'll reply to multiple people in this one post.

Firstly, Fuck you pretentious faggot #1. I have a different opinion to you, and you don't like it. Boo-hoo, grow the hell up. If someone saw me pick up a wallet and begin looking through it, chances are they'd do nothing, because that's the moral fibre of the general public. You're quick to throw your point of view in when hid behind a monitor, but you'd be less likely to act on it IRL.

Let me put it this way. Say you're walking down the street and see a nice shiny pound lying there on the floor. You'd pick it up and say "Ooh, a shiny pound, how lucky am I?" despite the fact that pound doesn't belong to you, and using your own definition; you're stealing. Now you're probably going to assume the position of "Yes, but a pound is completely different to ?100" but the simple fact is it isn't. In order for you to cling precariously to those morals, you'd have to turn in that pound, wouldn't you?

If I see money hanging out of an ATM, I'm going to take it because someone else will if I don't. If I see a wallet, I'll take the cash as a finders fee, and hand in the empty wallet. If I see cash on the ground, it's mine. You may not approve of my morals, but at least I'm honest about them, and don't attempt to pass myself off as a self righteous bastard.

So the question is: When does "Luck" become "Greed"?

mmmm...

some people on the EDF were far too cool to be worried about the common man's petty obsessions with MPs expenses - but Starmix is beyond the pail for being honest about taking advantage of someones misfortune...(or if not honest at least taking a contrary position)

*Goes away scratching head once again*

I saw it too, it was puerile, homophobic and totally beyond the pale.

Quids, you've seen a whole raft of points of view expressed on the forum before, do you really think a message would be removed for saying you should take the money from a cashpoint? If so, how come all the previous posts remained?

I called a member a pretentious faggot after he/she began flaming based on assumptions. I was right about the pretentious part, but I apologise if the word offended anyone. I suppose you could just wordfilter that out and this problem would never occur again.

HOWEVER.

After I'd dealt with that insipid member, I continued to go on with the topic of the thread, in specific saying that if you found a small amount of currency (a pound, 50p I forget what) it would still constitute as stealing, however your conscious would register it as yourself just coming into a bit of "Luck". I then went on to pose the question: When does "Luck" become "Greed"? In which I meant how much do you have to find before you consider turning it in?

Personally I see no issue with taking a finders fee from a wallet, (In the position of victim I'd be happy to have my wallet back, regardless of the loss of cash) or taking money from an ATM that the user has been too stupid to take for themselves. (In the same position, I'd curse myself for being such a damn idiot, and then get on with life)

[sarcasm]Brendon, I apologise if my grammar and spelling has made your visit to this thread unpleasant. Please, PM me any wikipedia or online dictionary articles you think would aid me in my eternal quest for perfect literacy.[/sarcasm]

''Life is to be lived. If you have to support yourself, you had bloody well better find some way that is going to be interesting.''

" i go to a 15k a year school, on 100% academic scholarship."

I'm counting at least two chips on your shoulder here.

I'd take a deep breath and try and engage in a slightly less confrontation

manner.

On your plus side, a thief you maybe but at least you're an honest thief and your steering clear of pejorative terms like your agesake ;)

    • I hate cooking and I can't cook. I live on stuff out of the freezer which I cook once every six months. I exaggerate only slightly.
    • Simply, give us a snap election now as the last 12 months in office honestly have not been great in any sense. Let someone else have a go at turning around UK plc before it's too late. At least the last administration had the inflation and unemployment rates going in the right direction at the END.
    • Yes but what's the answer, Jazzer? No government can simply walk in and fix the economy - get the bills down, grow it and reduce debt. There is no silver bullet. The public (and the press) wants everything now, everything cheaper, but with better public services and lower taxes.  In the radio and paper, all you ever hear is pundits, MPs, think tanks and economists saying what won't work, but no one seems to know what will work.  I'm genuinely interested to hear what other views people have on here, and what they think will help, or make things worse.
    • While they struggle with economics of UK plc, collectively we all suffer as a result of their ineptitude.
