Well as an allotment holder, I can assure you that there have been long hot sunny spells this summer!!

ETA: Depends on how you define Summer, I suppose.

I consider Summer as starting in May :)

And I don't think you get sunburned despite wearing sunblock (as I did) in the rain.

Also, you have to distinguish between the total amount of rain, and the number of days it actually rained.

I agree some days have been very wet. And some have been very cold. But many have also been very hot and sunny.

ETA: If memory serves, you were in Turkey during the heatwave, Fox.

To be honest the only improvement I can see would be staying open a bit later but realistically I doubt it could be justified as they probably don't have the same late night foot fall as LL provides Oddono's.

Either way for me if I want ice cream during the day they would be my top choice.

Today's menu includes:

Gelato:

Pistachio

Hazelnut

Coffee

Strawberries and Cream

Cherry

Salted Caramel

Stracciatella

Mint Stracciatella

Sorbets:

Chocolate

Prosecco

Orange

Kiwi, Apple and Lime

All stunning. Please use this place! I will be heartbroken if they don't succeed - it's SO good...

Finally found it open.

The ice cream is indeed delicious, but they are putting the prices up tomorrow - I think to ?3.40 for the basic offering. Apparently the prices to date were an opening offer.

One of the pleasures for me with ice cream is having a contrast of textures with something crunchy (eg a cone or meringue) and/or something smooth and runny (eg maple syrup) and I don't much like having no choice except to have the ice cream by itself in a tub, but hey ho.

I'm so greedy no doubt I'll be back :))

I agree with Miss dumpling

This place does the best ice cream, really really really good! Much much better than anywhere else, missed Scoop, and missed the Herne hill place, if this place goes, I will weap. It's not just sublime ice Creams and flavours, but an independent shop, which in itself deserves support I think.

If it does succumb to making cones, the handmade ones like HERNE hill ice cream place sold would be a perfect match. In my opinion, cones just take away from the ice cream, it doesn't need cones, but I can see the benefits for the kids, and the convenience for us drivers, as I could have a sneaky in the car on the way home.

Keep up the good work, and please everyone lets keep this one going, it's a gem!

Just had my 1st fabulous ice fires experience! Totally delish!! Pistachio was my favourite. And sampled the pinapple sorbet too! Wowza! So much better than Oddonos in my opinion. Owner seems lovely and down to earth too!!! Very reasonably priced too.

Enjoying the gelato and prosecco for six quid offer in the sunshine. Black Pearl ice cream very tasty. Cakes look good too. Will be back.

Opening hours appear to be Monday closed, rest of week 12-6.30, weekends opening 9.30 til 7pm. They said they'd open later if it was sunny and people were sticking around.

    • The current wave of xenophobia is due to powerful/influential people stirring up hatred.  It;'s what happened in the past, think 1930s Germany.  It seems to be even easier now as so many get their information from social media, whether it is right or wrong.  The media seeking so called balance will bring some nutter on, they don't then bring a nutter on to counteract that. They now seem to turn to Reform at the first opportunity. So your life is 'shite', let;s blame someone else.  Whilst sounding a bit like a Tory, taking some ownership/personal responsibility would be a start.  There are some situations where that may be more challenging, in deindustrialised 'left behind' wasteland we can't all get on our bikes and find work.  But I loathe how it is now popular to blame those of us from relatively modest backgrounds, like me, who did see education and knowledge as a way to self improve. Now we are seen by some as smug liberals......
    • Kwik Fit buggered up an A/C leak diagnosis for me (saying there wasn't one, when there was) and sold a regas. The vehicle had to be taken to an A/C specialist for condensor replacement and a further regas. Not impressed.
    • Yes, these are all good points. I agree with you, that division has led us down dangerous paths in the past. And I deplore any kind of racism (as I think you probably know).  But I feel that a lot of the current wave of xenophobia we're witnessing is actually more about a general malaise and discontent. I know non-white people around here who are surprisingly vocal about immigrants - legal or otherwise. I think this feeling transcends skin colour for a lot of people and isn't as simple as, say, the Jew hatred of the 1930s or the Irish and Black racism that we saw laterally. I think people feel ignored and looked down upon.  What you don't realise, Sephiroth, is that I actually agree with a lot of what you're saying. I just think that looking down on people because of their voting history and opinions is self-defeating. And that's where Labour's getting it wrong and Reform is reaping the rewards.
