Books for six-year-olds

i am lacking inspiration for my six-year-old daughter's bedtime reading. Any ideas? I am looking for books with not too many words per page so we can take turns reading. Books we've liked recently: Tom gates, Maisie Hitchins, dinosaur cove, Ottoline. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the tip about Maisie Hitchins - I hadn't heard of those. We like Oliver and the Seawigs and Cakes in Space and the Claude books.

Cakes in Space - i have just read it with my six-year old son and his little brother listened too until he dozed off every night. The amount of text on the page varies a lot, it's heavily illustrated (almost if not every double page) it's a space adventure with a girl protagonist, kooky, lively and very funny.

The Astrid Lindgren books are lovely, there are the Pippi Longstocking, Milo's kingdom etc.

vArjack is just brilliant. Two in the series, and I was as interested as my daughter!

We read this too. It is VERY funny. My daughter is 5.5yrs. Mostly I read it to her, but also I would single out a few words or phrases for her to read. She did more reading on the pages with less text, or she read her favourite words and phrases on other pages.
