Best roast dinner in the area?

Agree with the Crooked Well as the consistently best option. A year or two ago I'd have said the Palmerston was right up there, however I've found it to be "average" the past couple of times we've been. At the price charged I think it's reasonable to expect "fantastic".

The Old Nun's Head by Nunhead Green is also an excellent option as is Pedler.

We've tried The Lordship a couple of times (most recently about a week ago - couldn't get in to Old Nun's Head or Pedler). The service is nice there and we really wanted it to be great, but we were underwhelmed with the food for the price.

Keen to try the Perry Vale.

Yeh we had a roast at The Great Exhibition a week or so back.

Nothing like as good as it used to be, I thought. Wouldn't rush back.

The Old Nun's Head roasts are excellent, but it's very popular and you have to book a table if you want to be sure of getting one :(

I think the food at the Camberwell Arms is overrated and overpriced.. didn't rate their "roast" at all. Crooked Well is consistently good and big thumbs up for Pedler. I also have to give a shout out for the roast at The Sun in Camberwell - really good both times I've been. Proper potatoes, proper gravy!

So you expect people to photograph food & menus + prices, all ready for sharing on the forum and elsewhere

I'll try harder next time, obviously i'm missing a trick here

Specially when asked what I did over the weekend, yeah I can bore the tits right off them with my "Lunch Album/menu spreadsheet" collection all stored on my ipad/phone

this is a forum it's for members to share lots of things, if you think it will as you say "bore the tits right off them". have you never talked about when you go out and what a great meal you had and what good value it was ??.any way why are you posting on this thread on the forum if you think it's a bore?? and calling other members names like "Piloc" well it's says it all.

    • If you remember the date when your meter was fitted, the reading on that date would be 0.  So you could review your consumption over a longer period, which would be more meaningful. As an aside, our meter was initially fitted the wrong way round and therefore gave negative readings which TW couldn't report on our account.  They had to come and refit the meter and readings then appeared daily on our online account.
    • Hi!  I was wondering whether anyone had a birth pool that they are looking to sell? Thanks! Sarah
    • @Rumbero Just as I had suspected. The meter is outside under the pavement with an easy access metal cover and so I shall be taking regular readings from now on for about the next 60 days. Then I will have an accurate measure of consumption. There is a device immediately under the cover connected to the meter which guess sends the data to TW.
    • Yes - the fact they go long on how awful the other adult was but seem a bit reluctant to talk about their own behaviour! If you actually read the OP, their argument with the man wasn't about the kid hitting him, but about OP being told that their "reaction was over the top". Well, OK, then, OP - what was that reaction? OP then says "As I walked away, I heard him and two other adults talking and laughing about my reaction – yes, laughing." That's an interesting detail. Many possibilities here. Is the world is so chock full of sadists that even casual onlookers cackle at the sight of someone being smacked into by a 4 year old on a bike? Did OP make a bit of a tit of themselves with their reaction? Or something else entirely? We'll never really know because we don't have both sides of the story - in fact, not even a complete one-sided story...
