I'm looking for a new club. I shoot HT field archery and I was wondering if any other bowmen know of any clubs that are accepting new members. Before anyone says, I have checked with the NFAS but they can only give me contact details of club secretaries who don't often get back very quickly.

My skill is at national championship level and I'm a fully paid up NFAS member.

If anyone knows anything, please send me a message. I'm ideally after somewhere in the Kent or Surrey area

Thanks.

It's Jah who should be worried, beer gardens off limits for the foreseeable future...

Although crossbows should ideally be used to keep the local wildlife at bay Lou, I'd be more than happy.

Incidentally, I popped down to Target Arms for a tin of .22 air pellets and got talking to the nutters that run the place. Apparently they actually make quite a pretty penny hiring out the majority of their militaria to film and television production companies, so they're not fussed that nobody comes in to buy anything.

When I was younger and my grandad died my dad took possesion of his war booty. In the collection was an old Luger (decommissioned) and he took it down to Target Arms to see if they could clean it up a bit. They didn't provide that particular service but advised him to heavily insure it as it bore the sinister insignia of the SS. A lot of Nazi's and Millwall fans will pay a high price for that sort of thing and don't usually take no for an answer so they advised him to keep the pistol's unique hallmark to himself.

He did.

What do I say?

I say that the Dulwich estate don't take too kindly to that sort of thing Lou. I'm afraid that I speak with experience on this matter. During the Autumn of 2003 I was among a group of close friends messing about with a paintball gun in Sydenham woods. We were reported and we all ended up in front of the Magistrates at Woolwich and recieved a ?200 fine each, along with 100 hours community service. I'm not joking either.

Forgive me if I take a pass this time.

Daizie,

I'd be more than happy to meet Louisiana in a secluded wood to practice her aim and I'd like to think of myself as a competent instructor.

Apart from that,

Daizie, I like you and I think you've done a rather good job advocating the benefits and hurdles facing young A-level students. However, I'd appreciate if you educated yourself and got into the habit of starting your sentences with a capital letter.

Thanks.

Daizie,

I hate to bring this up but I'm becoming increasingly perplexed by your often bizarre replies to some of my more sensible contributions. I'm naturally flattered by your suggestion that I may be a 'love god' but I'm afraid I'm not in the position to comment as to how my performance in bed measures up to other men.

I merely have a massive wanga, that's all.

Angry Jah Lush + Armed bigbadwolf = You do the maths.

I wouldn't point a bow and arrow at anyone. I'd simply be interested to see how Jah would react if I were to remind him it's his 'bow time' in such an advertised method.

Apart from the obvious, I'm sure he'd see the funny side of such an unrealistic situation/event.

to tempt fate by offering a serious response, i think the London Archers are based in Pimlico somewhere - I used to fence round there (crossing blades rather than flogging ookey merchandise) and I seem to remember the Archers practice met nearby. Not sure if that counts as local - sort of depends where you're travelling from. Potentially could be just the other end of the 185.

If you're hoping to look out of London rather than inwards, I'm positive there's a Bromley Archery Club. I don't know any more than that - have always rather liked the look of archery myself but never gotten round to giving it a go.

Good luck with your search for a new club.

    • I am  ill in bed with Covid. It's not that I "can't be bothered" to read things. I am feeling crap and don't have the energy at the moment. I am not "brushing stuff aside and pleading ignorance." I am truthfully saying when I don't presently know enough about something to comment. I have always been very careful to try to  differentiate between fact and opinion in my posts, and I am not clear what your point is. And I am certainly not trying to wind anybody up. This is a forum. If you don't want to respond to my posts, that's up to you. I'm not sure why you feel the need to announce it.
    • @NewWave I know how you feel. Like you, I've lived and spent prolonged periods of time in some pretty crazy places and always thought I could handle a bunch of kids. But, no - they got to me and I was shaking like a leaf afterwards. That's what age does to us.  But I did engage with them, so bear that in mind.  My advice would be to never let anything like that stop you doing the things you love. I'm certainly not going to stop using the park, there's no way they get to take away our cherished spaces!  If you see them, just change tack and keep out of their way. My dog won't even go that way again, so that's that problem solved. (If I see them again, I'm going to keep taking photos from a safe distance).
