The plums at Co-op on FH Road are delicious. They cost one pound per punnet, with roughly 8 pieces in each one. Not at all reminiscent of the dark purple, bitter plums you often get. These are British (Kent), green and dark pink with a pale flesh. They ripen easily and are sweet and not too juicy.

Oh Nero - you star! I know a Kent plum farmer who has been despairing: this year's crop is brilliant but they are being severely undercut by foreign imports. Good old Co-op.

PGC- I also heard that the green grocer on NCR will buy fruit from locals who have an over abundance. Tell your farmer friend to bring his plums there.

FWIW -- sixty lovely peaches from our back-garden tree (eight years old) this season. Yes, Bordeaux mixture applied against leaf curl; otherwise, benign neglect.

That co-op is fab. I'm a real fan of William Rose but would still always buy co-op chicken. It tastes like chicken!
