You are imagining stuff Matthew. The only superiority I would claim for rugby over football is the supporters. As for the games themselves it's a personal choice what you like or don't as the case may be. Quids referred to the amateur era in rugby and I agree with him. Rugby as a professional sport needs to sort it laws out if it's to grow. There are too many grey areas where it's impossible for the ref to know in the scrum for example who is actualy commiting the offence. As for the article, it doesn't surprise me. The French have possibly been the dirtiest players even going back to the amateur era. I say possibly in case someone cares to suggest another country.

I have enjoyed reading the various comments from both sides of the arguement. As my username would suggest I am slightly biased in this matter. But for what its worth here's my version.

Rugby is a physical game and there is no getting away from that, but this does not excuse actions which clearly lie outside of the Laws. They should be punished and to an extent I agree recent sanctions appear not to have been hash enough.

The media and Rugby's jump to professionl sports status has highlighted its flaws and the various Rugby Unions are working overtime to clamp down on these. But I think firstly this was inevitable and secondly it has been welcomed throughout the rugby scene.

I don't hate Football and I certainly don't think is any lesser a game than rugby, but I am 6'3" and a solid 18 1/2 stone, not exactly a Footballers physic. I simply prefer Rugby (I have been playing since the age of 9) and the atmosphere you experience watching rugby. I definitely agree with comments regarding the spectators. I have never felt uncomfortable watching Rugby even with 82,000 supporters around me most of which aren't wearing my colours. Yes we do refer to the referee as sir, a yellow card means you're off the pitch for 10mins and a referee will give you a straight red card for descent if its nature requires it.

For those of you who would like to find out your are always more than welcome at King's College Hospital RFC. We are an open team, we don't take our Rugby to seriously and enjoy the social aspect of the game, even to see a game and experience it - email [email protected] or call 07932960907

I sincerely hope similar is available still because for many elderly their pet is their main source of comfort and company.
    • In a couple of places locally, I have come across this. I am fairly sure that they attempt to do the bill in their head. If you just say , “no, I think it’s x” they start again and get to an agreeable number, or find a calculator. I don’t think it’s a malicious attempt to swindle people. Just not great arithmetic.
    • There are excellent charities like the Greenwich Wildlife Network who will help if you report any concerns with local wildlife. Foxes are wonderful creatures who had been forced into our town and cities and are just doing their best to survive, we should take care of them when we can.
    • Like I thought… prob like that for most of the day.. especially after people had walked their dogs, with friends, relatives  kids…
