woofmarkthedog
Did you see on BBC1, I'm with the Alabama family ( barring the wide eyed american church vibe ) well handled, it's the British parents who needed a kick up the 'arris. That said I think I am very a different parent than mine were to me. The quote that struck me " Good kids thrown to the wind of adulthood " W**F Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/7892-strict-parents/ Share on other sites
Moos
Does anyone know why it's called the 'arris? Is it rhyming slang or because it sounds a bit like arse? Also, why is the sky different shades of blue in different parts? I know it's to do with how light diffuses, but that somehow is not satisfying. ????
it's the old orantang ain't it Moos darlin'...but a slang on a slangArris is short for Arristotle which is a ryme for bottle and in Ryhming slang bottle=arse (bottle and glass)Sky, not a clue..just give me the trivial stuff Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/7892-strict-parents/#findComment-245560 Share on other sites

bigbadwolf
You never feel the first two strikes either. The rush of seething pain comes along just after the third "thwack". You usually start screaming after that as well. Still, nothing like a bit of pain to clear the mind. Huguenot
Right. I had to get up in the morning at ten o'clock at night, half an hour before I went to bed, drink a cup of sulphuric acid, work twenty-nine hours a day down mill, and pay mill owner for permission to come to work, and when we got home, our Dad and our Mother would kill us, and dance about on our graves singing "Hallelujah." Huguenot
You were lucky. We lived for three months in a paper bag in a septic tank. We used to have to get up at six in the morning, clean the paper bag, eat a crust of stale bread, go to work down the mill for fourteen hours a day week in week out, for sixpence a week. When we got home, out Dad would thrash us to sleep with his belt!
