well that was a lovely evening with the lads so thanks keef for suggesting this little foray, I have to say I am a little bleary eyed this morning though, perhaps I was a little bit weak when offered the fourth pint and the shot! Still small price to pay for some very interesting and lively chat about kids and great to meet some very cool people in the area. Now off to get steamy with a deseperate housewife!(well desperate to have no wall paper in the spare room):)) lets do it again soonish not too soon though I'm a bit too lightweight for that!!

thanks and hugs to all that made it!!

Hi, there's a Dad's drop-in session at Brockwell Park 1 o clock club on a Saturday morning, it's a really nice spacious club with a garden. I haven't been to this session, but it's apparently quite popular.

You could also come along to the new 'Bumps n Babes' group which is starting on 12th October in Goose Green Community Centre, every Monday 10am-12noon. It's a drop-in group for mums to be, new parents & carers of babies and young toddlers - I don't know how many other Dads will come along, but we do get the odd one or two at bumps n babes in Herne Hill.

Would be nice if this thread could keep going if only to keep dads coming into this part of the forum - it's supposed to be a family room not a mums' room, and it's great when the dads are here too.

Come to think of it, families are also grannies and uncles and cousins and siblings and stuff, so it should include everyone! - but you know what I mean.

Ok I'm throwing my cards in too.

2 boys 9 & 5 I'm a very hands on "Dad" changed career to be around them as much as possible. I love it & it gets better as time goes on.

We were the first of our social group to have children so I know how you feel. Once they start school though it really changes again.

Flexible with time & location though I do live near you.

well we could use an agreement on a date if keefs brssic on the 22nd I will stand him a pint or two or we could have a whip and all stick in what we can each like a tenner or something so if anyones skint they can put in next month, I will only have a pint or two so there should be extra in the kitty for those with a little less to put in!

    • Thanks all!  KateS - boulangerie Jade is a nice cafe, but they don't do fresh cream cakes. Their eclairs are filled with patisserie cream (a kind of custard), not fresh cream. Azalea- thanks and I've been to Bunhead Bakery (a Palestinian bakery) in Herne Hill a few times. There's a nice chocolate bun they do, which is amazing when then sauce is warmed up. But I haven't seen any fresh cream things there, only white icing. Maybe it's only on a certain day.  And the last time I checked, Ayres bakers in Nunhead don't do fresh cream things. These are the kind of fresh baked goods I'm thinking of....
    • Warning to parents using the playground in Dulwich Park. My daughter and her friends found a bag of ‘crunchy powder’ in the children’s playground this morning around 11ish. They thought it was ‘popping candy’ and all tried some before seen with it. Request to parents using the playground - if you see plastics bags with suspect looking contents or powder on the floor in the playground or park: pick it up and throw it in the bin. Don’t walk past and think someone else will deal with it. The next person to walk by might be a child who could pick it up not understanding what it could be. Hopefully our daughter and her friends will be ok and it’s a lucky escape. But please be aware in case anyone else’s child may have found it before them.
    • I’m looking for some ply sheets, ideally 9mm or 12mm. It doesn’t have to look good. As long as it’s not rotten it’ll be fine. I’d like bigger sheets, but I’m open to whatever anyone’s got. If you can help, drop me a DM.  Cheers
    • the only known name is from that poster in the window where it says to email [email protected]. I thought that website might shed some light on who is creating the posters I hope whoever was attacked is doing ok, but agree there is something very off/vigilante-ish about all of this
