Friday Night Dad's Club

Quids - may I remind you that this is a Friday Night Dad's club - not an AA meeting. Goodness gracious.

To be honest I should think the same, but for me the recommended units is too low to achieve, or even want to achieve. I think you can drink more than is recommended but as you say with big drinking in the past you have to be careful of your overall health. Fortunatley I have never been a smoker and I think smoking and drinking is a very a bad combo.

Yeah, you've youth on your side Keef, so you can go back on the razz when the kids are older ;-)

To be honest getting up with babies with a hangover is only doable once every so often for me nowadays, but I was still putting away a fair bit just by drinking a few cans everynight, so now I'm only drinking weekends or if I go out in the week, which is pretty rare nowadays but I'm not deliberately avoiding it if you see what I mean. So, I went to football the other day and had a few beers but Mon-Thursday if i'm at home...niente!

Sorry Keef - did not know you were "in the house" - I know you like a ciggy, but the above post was not aimed at anyone. Having become a dad again this week, it makes me think of my own Dad and it was the ciggies that were the end of him i'm afraid. He stayed clear of booze as there is a bit of it in our family history, but the ciggies are really worth giving up (imo).

I'm afraid I think Fosters nowadays seems very watery. About 10 years ago I stopped buying stella and switched to Carling as the beer I would have in the fridge generally - think that was a good move as after 2/3 cans of stella you would actually feel it having a significant effect, so tend to avoid it.

Friday night dad's club I'm usually Carling - tonight I feel I deserve a large whisky (even the midwife said so, so its medically prescribed, so to speak.)

I was on Grolsch and Gaymers last night, 3 of each. Plus a joint. Feeling fuzzy today! I'm actually buying an xbox in the hope that it'll stop me sitting watching crap on telly and just drinking for the sake of it. I am a youngish dad at 31, but I'm not feeling like it!

  • 4 weeks later...

Is there anybody there ?

If you are quick - you will get the opening sequence of trainspotting on Film4 - with intro from danny boyle....play it loud.

I think I'll watch it until Archie scores that goal and try to focus on the goal and not Kelly Macdonald

    • We were trying to contact Steve on 07990904375, following this post and yet there wasn't any reply from this number. Is it a correct number to contact Steve for decoration work?
    • You might be 'amused' but obviously its something thats enough of a concern that there are specific rules in the entrance criteria to specifically disallow this, so not exactly comparative.  Aside from the flawed analysis, the idea of so much movement that there is a massive cost to the taxpayer of finding extra schooling is also unlikely.  As I noted upthread, the cost of private school education has increased dramatically in recent years.  Increases in fees over 10% per annum in some cases, so the idea that the application of VAT would drive the majority out just isn't the case.  There will be some who can't afford it any more. But then there are lots of people who couldn't afford it in the first place. Anyone who has accepted a school place in the last 2-3 years will have known this was Labour's policy, so their kids will be in year 9 by the time Labour gets in.  That would mean that only parents of those with children in years 10/11 likely to have been unaware when signing up.  They can obviously move their children for sixth form if needed.  The others shouldn't be surprised!  Those with children in juniors will need to take a view whether affordable or move to the state sector.
