He's listed no rugby on his board at all, just football. Went to watch a game a week ago.

Hi Guys, I only stumbled on this thread by accident. But as I'm the guv'nor of Hoopers I would like to correct any inaccuracies about showing rugby here.

Firstly we are pleased to show any sports short of pro-am waterborne bull-fighting, and customers only have to give us a bell to check if we canshow the game. There are so many sports and different games that we usually just put up a selection.

I am very into my rugby, and this summer we not only showed all the Lions games including the mid-weekers, but also some of the Tri-Nations. If there is a Premiership, a Heineken or whatever the Anglo-Welsh is being called this season, we will show it provided that the majority of people can see what they wish on a Sky channel.

And here's the rub. Mr Murdoch's Sky is getting ever more avaricious. If a publican has 2 or more TVs, as we do, we can only show 1 Sky channel, unless we cough up even more money to the plutocrat! And this season, after Sky announced, that for once, they wern't going to put up the subscription charges, in September they quietly withdrew Sky 3 from the package most of us buy (to try and force us to buy what they call their Ultimate package).

So, to this weekend. Sky is showing just 1 game over the weekend, Saturday teatime, Harlequins v Bath, lovely I thought Bloodgate meets the Cocaine Snorters! (no offence folks!), and then I saw they are showing it on Sky 3. Sky are a law to themselves, as monopolies often are. So very few pubs will be in a position to show a complete Guinness Premiership game this weekend. However we can show highlights of all the weekend's games on Sunday evening at 6.30pm.

The good news we willbe showing the Leinster v London Irish Heineken game next Friday 9th at 8pm. Hope some of you guys can make it.

Sorry this post is so long!

    • So you are a ‘member’, whatever that means - it’s not very clear…. But also totally transparent. Miaow 💅😂 Maybe I will, maybe I won’t 😂 What is interesting about your questions is that they suggest, as usual, that you see everything as a really basic binary opposition (cars vs bike, anti LTN vs pro-council etc). It’s not very nuanced Rocks. I don’t have great love for Southwark council as I suspect you assume. That said, neither do I have a lot of time for the apocalyptic hyperbole of those still upset over a fairly minor change to a road junction in the village, made several years ago, and which actually creates a bit more space for people on foot or kids travelling to school by bike. Ah, what the hell, let’s play…as you asked so nicely: The one that took place between May and July 2021 I don’t know much about this. It seems they did reopen it though, presumably at their request? Apparently they have the agreement of the emergency services this time, (which perhaps does suggests they didn’t consult with them properly the first time round). Of course someone (the mysterious Mr One?) believes the emergency services are being intimidated somehow (possibly by commies) so maybe Southwark still haven’t learnt their lesson? No, I don’t. Although I hear the Mysterious Mr One would like it redesigned to make things clearer. 😂 As for your ‘demand question 3 sub-points’ I don’t actually agree with their premise (a bit of the old ‘how often do you beat your wide’ framing going on there). Anyway good luck with the referendum.
    • I often walk past 'Kenro Press' and think it looks very sad and negleted. I wonder when it was last a viable business - tried googling it but nothing much came up Great to hear it is being brought back to life, perhaps a pity it will not be a new usefull retail premises. Lots of work needed so good luck with your renovation
    • No I don't disagree. I wasn't condoning drivers getting confused and the debate on whether refresher tests should be taken is a long one and is something probably for a Malumbu- thread!   I take it you never entered your details as someone agreeing with their sentiment but lots of Dulwich residents did and as part of that you get their email updates. So no, I have nothing to do with tje group beyond one of those two thousand dots on their website as a "member" is me!   Now, are you going to answer my questions or pretend you never saw them....p.s. we have seen this tactic before - happy to throw questions but not happy to answer some yourself...
