Muley
Fair enough. But Merlins dragon wearing a digital watch is just wrong... Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/8277-anachronisms/page/2/#findComment-255303 Share on other sites
Brendan
I think the cgi folks first experimented with a sundial strapped it his wrist but it just didn?t look right. Although, there?s a Robert Rankin book where a lost, Victorian age of advanced technology is rediscovered in the future when an archivist finds that one of the figures in the Fairy Feller's Master-Stroke is wearing a digital watch. Ted Max
In The Tudors Cromwell is pictured receiving a gloating SMS from the ambassador to the Holy Roman Emperor, which is ridiculous because there was no cross-network interoperability for text messages until after the Union of the Crowns in 1603. Ted Max
Keeping up with Henry VIII's Ffriends and Ffamily plan was an admin nightmare for his service provider, by the way. Ted Max
Historians are also now agreed that what Henry thought was an MMS of Anne of Cleves sent to him by Holbein, was in fact the result of him clicking accidentally on a WAP link to adult site "Damsels_in_undress". This early example of multimedia spam eventually cost Cromwell his head, and cost England years of political and military insecurity. Peckhamgatecrasher
Bloody 'Merlin' again. Wizards can't hide in Jacobean cabinets in Camelot. And hemlock kills from the feet up - not dramatically clutching the throat after two seconds.Pah! PeckhamRose
Mr PR is an aviation expert. Many's the time we will see some documentary or TV show or film and there's some plane flying and he'll say something like, "That plane wasn't built till two years later" or "That's the wrong sound for that plane". Yawn! Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/8277-anachronisms/page/2/#findComment-275624 Share on other sites
RosieH
I still weep over an episode of Stars in their Eyes where a contestant sang Jailhouse Rock in full '68 Comeback Special black leather. EDOldie
Young Winston, where there is a full shot of Horseguards Parade in period uniform and a passenger plane (now sadly airbrushed out) flying over turn of the century London. And Eye of the Needle with Donald Sutherland set in the Second world war, double yellow lines in the road and a late 1970's bus shelter. It's a classic. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/8277-anachronisms/page/2/#findComment-275831 Share on other sites
