Definitely report it. It helps police build a more accurate report on the number of crimes and attempted crimes. Ripping your door handle of is criminal damage. The SNT might be able to come round and tell you how to make your kitchen door area more secure, although it sounds like it is secure already.

And to reiterate. it is ALWAYS important to log all such calls to the police.

If they don't turn up when they should, that's another issue.

But if every such occurance was logged then the police would be able to target their resources more appropriately.

Apparently!

But I'm now feeling very paranoid that they might come back...

Assume they will and improve you security immediately, even if it means a day off work, because you do not want to come back to a ransacked or despoiled abode, usually the damage they cause will cost far more than the security additions.

They were burglars who got spooked and ran off, they wont come back they very rarely do. Always report to the police, this is important because more often than not they have used tools to try and break the door open or perhaps used there foot to kick the door. SOCCO (forensics) will come round and they can take impressions of the tools that were used and prints off doors. They werent successful getting into your house BUT if they were a few streets down and the tools match or the foot prints then ,happy days.

You will also get a crime number and it helps the burglary squad to see what areas the active burglars are working in and also it helps you for insurance purposes.

Goodluck!

    • What is it that makes Waitrose so special! Admittedly I have shopped a couple of times in the Orpington and Beckenham one - sometimes buying food which I cannot get else where. Their 'basic range' is not bad. Price for price and quality - M & S.
    • Sometimes a shed or other installation has to have written approval from the freeholder i.e. Southwark, Southwark has (or did have) a Leaseholder Association.   Could also come under Anti Social Behaviour Unit.
    • Love Dulwich is great but has a large step in front. We have only been weekdays at Lunch time. Maria's next to Picture House is disabled friendly. Also can reserve table in advance. We did a Sunday lunch catch up with family - there were 8 of us.
    • Hi, Thinking about  going with some friends and was just wondering if folk might like to report back please. Most importantly sound level when busy & is it disabled friendly.  Thinking on a Sunday lunchtime but don’t want a busy busy environment or loud chatter - a couple of friends could not cope. Time can be flexible, if that helps - say 2 ish to avoid above.. Thanks…
