Just try and stop me.

Throughout the year I have selflessly and at great personal expense invested a large amount of money in local pubs in order to cultivate a face as rubicund as the breast of our old friend the robin.

And of course my figure is such that I have no need of padding in order to convince any room that Santa Claus has indeed come to town.

Just beard, suit and boots, and I be good to go, motherfucker.

Hilarious! There's something about Christmas that brings out the vintage best in Mr. B.

(surprised, though, that the swearogram doesn't rule out motherfucker - ooh look, I did it again).

it does now - The Administrator

Yeah! A sweary Santa wih whisky on his breath! My kids will surely be sitting on your knee (though they are 18 and 24, so I'll understand if they go one at a time rather than one on each knee).

18 and 24 stone in weight, that is. I mean, taking one's grown up offspring to see Santa would surely just be inappropiate parenting?

Erm, I think I'll pass thank you...think loo-brush stuffed down each stocking...not pretty...I would have to keep moving otherwise Doris the Donkey would think me a bum-scratcher! Far far better on HB, I assure you.

Appreciate the thought though.

Sounds good to me, I've been told my calves are of such quality they'll bring prodigal sons in from miles around.

Hello Monica,

A friend of mine (from North London - hiss hiss!) is interested in your Santa's parade...do you have a sort of timetable of events or something which I could email her? Don't worry if not.

And just to reiterate what I said before...thank you for all you hard work and for making ED all the better for it.

xx

Hi All

Just an update on the parade, please obviously wrap up warm because the weather is going to be chilly, and bring an umbrella.

We would also like the parents participating in the parade to bring empty jam jars, we would like to light the parade with candles, so any spare jam jars will be great, we will provide the tea lights/candles.

The parade will also have a cordon around it for the children and parents to keep within and hold on to. The escorting officers will also be holding the cordon and directing the traffic around the parade. If you are travelling in to East Dulwich for the parade, please come by public transport. I have notified the AA of the parade, so hopefully motorists who are visiting the Area, should have fair warning.

And Finally I hope you enjoy the experience, I will be on parade duty with my fellow Angel Hannah singing and wishing you all a Very Merry Christmas.

    • To be honest, pal, it's not good being a fan of a local business and then not go there. One on hand, the barber shop literally next door to Romeo Jones started serving coffee. The Crown and Greyhound and Rocca serve coffee. Redemption Coffee opened up not far away, and then also Megan's next door to that. DVillage was serving coffee (but wasn't very popular), as was Au Ciel (which is). Maybe also Heritage Cheese, I don't know. There's also Flotsam and Jetsam doing coffee and sandwiches at Dulwich Picture Gallery in the other direction. The whole of Dulwich Village serves coffee. And yet on the other hand, there are enough punters to support all good coffee shops. With the exception of Rocca and Megan's (which are both big spaces) and C&G (which does coffee like everything else - slow and with bad service), all these places regularly get queues out the door. Gail's often has big queues and yet very few people crossed the street to Romeo Jones (which was much better)... Half the staff at Gail's are perfectly fine and efficient. The other half are pretty offhand and rude. It's certainly not welcoming or friendly service. But they're certainly hard working, and no doubt raking the money in for Luke Johnson...
    • Well according to a newspaper article, Gail’s is opening 10 shops in London,,, yup Dulwich is named 10/5 I seem to recall with others in London opening at 7 am…!, Guess that is to capture workers coming off all night shift. Offering free mince pies until they run out.. So very sad to hear about Romeo Jones… been a customer since the opening, any idea where Patrick has gone or details… please pm me.    What is going to be in its place…. Will be around in Jan…umm village is changing….
    • interesting the police said "the car was in demand at the moment" what make/model is that?
    • Just be careful to know exactly what they cover and the limits. i use Many Pets and Medivet, as I think one of the vets is exceptionally good. Some of the NHV are, but I’ve had a couple I’ve not liked at all.  I need consistency and to feel that they actually care more about the animals than the money.
