A decent gym. Fusion and EPS or whatever it is are SH**E!

A couple of building societies instead of the dreadful Barclays and HSBC.

Gun club, brothel and a shop that sells those sharp objects you can scatter on the ground to puncture the tyres of the horrific bugaboos!

Bit off topic but I was wondering how the bike shop on ED Road is getting on... I remember when moving to ED a couple of years ago and thought it would be a good business venture as there wasn't one... if only I had the drive, know-how and a bit of balls to do my own thing I could have been in there before them!!!!

Is that sarcasm? Surely between the multitude of corners shops. Pretty Traditional, and the guy next to the ED Warehouse, fruit and veg is covered?

Bakers maybe - I haven't tasted anything amazing from any of the bakers, cheap or expensive (although I'm partial to the bread in the Turkish shop opposite the Bishop)

I second a good B&B. A simple 3 or 4 bedroomed B&B, not a fancy over expensive boutique hotel nonsense, but a good simple B&B. Perhaps if Foxtons were to close down that would be a nice place to have it!

And if everything we all ever needed was in ED we'd have no need to go around the rest of London. London's fab to explore!

OK then so how about a river?

A nice B&B would be a good one - but maybe it would be hard to make it work with reasonable rates, given local house prices.

An indie cinema would be awesome. One which sells warm toffee popcorn, fresh smoothies, and cakes. And beer.

A record shop comes up time and time again, but much as it pains me to admit it, the local record shop we remember from our youths probably isn't a viable business these days - unless you combine it with games, electronics, DVDs, etc.

    • Hi Sue, they were not local solicitors. Andrea’s was based in Wales and the other firms involved were large nationwide conveyancing companies (rather than conventional high street solicitors). I’m happy to advise clients and buyers privately on what I believe to be their shortcomings but I don’t think doing so in public on the forum would be appropriate, particularly as they are not locally based. My general advice would always be to steer clear of the big conveyancing companies as they are, in my experience, notoriously difficult to contact when the need arises and the case handler is often not a fully qualified solicitor and so issues have to be referred upwards to “technical teams” internally, which was part of the problem in Andrea’s chain. • A slightly vulnerable but hopeful post… Hi everyone, I’m a guy in my mid-thirties who’s recently moved back to London and East Dulwich (I previously lived here for many years before, so I know the area well). But if I’m honest, I’ve found the return a little tough. Most of my close friends have moved out of London to start families — totally understandable — but it’s left me feeling a bit adrift and not quite sure how to make new connections again. Work has taken up a huge chunk of my life in recent years, and I’ve definitely let hobbies, interests and a proper social life fall by the wayside. I feel like I went from a fun social life in my 20’s to suddenly blinking and realising things had gone a bit er…quiet. So, I’m trying to redress the balance a bit — mainly so myself and my partner don’t murder each other 😂, and just to meet some new local faces. I was wondering: is anyone else in a similar boat? And would there be any interest in starting a relaxed, low-key local social group? Could be a casual pub meet, sports, park hangouts, live comedy nights — open to ideas!  I’m happy to do the organising/admin side of things — just wanted to put it out there and see if there’s any appetite. I’ll gauge interest and take it from there.  If you’d prefer not to reply publicly, feel free to drop me a DM.  Cheers all! 👋
    • It's Inner London. You could move somewhere else?
