Hi Tarot, Peckham is really not far to go for a Superdrug or Sainsbury's DKH has quite a large stock of toiletry type products. I like Sea Cow for fish and chips. And there's a toilet in Cafe Nero- I know only one but it's better than none.

I like the independent cinema idea but then again I don't mind going to Brixton and I really love The Ritzy. I think just more cozy type restaurants/bars that allow for a less in your face kind of atmosphere (not sure how to explain this better!) but then again that wouldn't cater for the families around here.

Also some cheaper places to eat and some kind of noodle/Vietnamese style restaurant would be amazing (for me!) and a Natwest (sick of the ridiculous queues in Peckham)

That sounds good, Noodle bar, and a cinema.

Most cimemas are quite small these days, one could be fitted in somewhere.

I heard a rumour they may have one at Crystal Palace, but I think that plan has been shelved now.

Things are changing in this borough, it used to be a sleepy little place once.

But I do think it will rival places like Camden, and markets like Greenwich.

Given time and new bussiness,s springing up.

Sometimes I wonder whether you do think, Tarot.

"That plan" has most definitely not "been shelved now", I can assure you.

Isn't that doubling up? I mean, it's having two places in ED where you can get your pet beaver stuffed...

Get a grip people - amongst all the unfeasible toss mentioned on here , a Cinema ?

you seem to think you are living in some kind of twisted Richard Curtis stytlised Urban Utopia, with Hugh Grant as a next door neighbour & That tiresome Gryff Rhys Jones sockpuppet as as stall holder on the NCR.

Its a scruffy South London Borough, surrounded by some of the worst poverty and depravation in Europe, not Notting Hill or Aldeburgh, however you view it.

Pfft

If would want to brave the " locals "***, then there are jewellers & a myriad of shops on the Rye lane that would be more than happy to change Your batteries

*** Now commonly heard ED spoken shorthand for the non white working classes. Not sneering racist though. Definately not.Us Guardian readers positively embrace diversity. Oh yes.

    • You can make cider from a variety of varieties of apple.  If course the best is west country/SW Midlands which is predominantly cider apples, that can be so tart it knocks your head off.  But cider producers often add desert apples, and Breton and Normandy ciders are sweeter.
    • Hi,  We are welcoming a puppy to our family in a couple of months, and since I'm new to the area, I'm looking for some local recommendations.  I am looking for the following:  Highly recommended vet  Groomers (they are a cavapoo, so will be a regular!)  Group puppy training classes  Thank you 🙂
    • I too am very sorry to hear this, taliax7. It must weigh heavily over you and your family.
    • We did L-shaped conversion and put the bathroom in the middle so could be shared by both front and rear bedrooms and strongly recommend this. We'd stayed in places with ensuite bathrooms in front bedroom and didn't want kids / guests having to walk through front bedroom from back bedroom. All of our loft rooms feel spacious and have lots of light. You can add more roof windows and adding a side window in addition to rear window on back bedroom makes a huge difference to the feel and light. Think how you'll use the rooms and where the furniture will go; and pay attention to where you'll have reduced headroom as this catches lots of people out and having to make mid-build changes. Suggest view your neighbours lofts and see what you like and what you don't. Hope this helps
