Any empty premises available?

Jeremy - Jerk Rock has already been snapped up it would seem.

What about approaching a traditional cafe - there seem to be too many of these in ED for the needs of the community - I bet one of these institutions will run by a sole proprieter who would be up for retiring if someone offered a way out? The Cafe near the Castle on Crystal Palace Road being a prime example - I have never seen more than one table occupied in there ever!

> Depending on the takings and rent and time of lease remaining a cafe' in ed would be very expensive to buy, at least 100k I would say, minimum.!

    • Interesting take mal  Maybe the reduction in spending to 50% by the government on active travel is a sensible reaction to the expected boom not happening.  After all when money is short, why waste it on schemes that aren't being used as much as expected, thereby cutting your cloth accordingly and redirecting the money where its needed more.  You can build so much cycling inferstructure but as they say you can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink.  Whilst more active travel is an admirable goal, if people don't want to go that route and with the weather in this country, then its hard to see it expanding much more than it has already.
    • Article is about Government enabling cycling, which would be a good thing.  Sadly Sunak doesn't like active travel and public transport and wants to win votes by appealing to hard line motorists.  His days are numbered. If you look at Johnson's manifesto he had failed on most pledges the most spectacular being delivering the benefits of Brexit.  He also failed on free cycle training for all children. Barriers to increased cycling include larger cars and poor driving standards.
    • I don't think there is much in the way of pride about running that store; I think there used to be and not so long ago. It's messy - the fruit and veg section never looks attractive.  Contrast with Lidl and Morrisons that in my experience (and I appreciate others may have had a different one) always looks much better stocked and attractively presented.  They don't seem to stock stuff that I would expect a store of that size to have - I looked for pudding rice the other week and couldn't find any and nor could the staff working there.  Is it that unusual  ? Doesn't anyone make rice pudding ? I guess not.  You have weight certain fruit and veg - I'm OK with that - but why, on a Saturday when it's going to be busy, not ensure that the scales  are all stocked with plenty of labels rather than there only be one working by 10am ? And don't get me started on so-called "Nectar prices"... It's got a dominant position and it's a cash-cow that the management don't seem to care about.
