Hi there,

I seem to have trapped a nerve in my back in a foolish overexercising kind of manner and it's proving rather challenging to get my toddler out of his cot etc. Fun times.

Anyway never having been in this position before I don't know whether a physio or a chiropractor would be better to go to. Does anyone have any local recommendations for me please? I'm in SE22.

Thank you.

It could be a bulging/ruptured disc - I have had these and am not a fan of either chiro nor physio, as they manipulate something that shouldn't be manipulated. I would try and get it checked out (MRI) if it's not disappearing quickly. Equivalent of "spraining" your back - rest, time and gentle movement is the key, then core strengthening when pain has gone.
I would second bobbsy about the fact that it could be a bulging/ruptured disc and the need to get it properly investigated, although as an interim measure (until you can get to see a doctor), I would definitely advocate seeing a good physio (no physio would manipulate until after diagnosis) who may be able to give you accupuncture. I would definitely recommend Dulwich Physiotherapy in Crystal Palace Road. They are not related to the doctors practice but have offices above. They offer great flexibility with appointments including evenings and Saturdays. Do not see a Chiropractor!

    • Found debit card on Colyton Road - around 5:30pm. PM with your name and the last 4 digits of the card number if you think it might be yours.  Reported to the bank who asked me to shred it. If you are the owner, they'll send a new one in the post

    • This guy was found running loose on the common, up at the Colyton Road end. He was being quite over zealous with other dogs, causing a bit of mayhem. No collar, we think he might be a pup who's escaped. If he's yours, PM me and I can put you in touch with a kind young couple who got a lead on him and have put shout-outs on the local dog whatsapp groups.  If you are the parents of any of the young lads in school uniform, who were helping me as I tried to stop a fight kicking off between this chap and my dog, please tell your sons thank you. I really thought it was going to get nasty and I didn't get the chance to thank the boys - particularly the blonde one - who were helping me. He was being very brave as I crumbled.    The dog's owner has now been found. But hopefully the parents of the young lads will see this post.
