lorraineliyanage
Push Studios have kindly donated space to run a teagroup or baby playgroup, perhaps on a weekly/fortnightly basis depending on the level of interest. This would be a free baby group with occasional guest speakers, mums and babes fitness classes, infant massage demos etc. What days would be most popular with ED mums? It would be good to avoid days when there are already lots of baby classes running (Friday seems to be a popular one for playgroups). Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday AMs are looking like the best option but let me know if you're prefer an afternoon group.I have set up a poll here, please vote for your session of choice. If Push Studios are free at this time, then I'll go with the majority vote for the most popular day and time. I have only listed session times that I would be free to run the group, so please don't ask for Mondays or Fridays.http://www.misterpoll.com/polls/464458 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/8911-edf-playgroup-please-vote-on-the-poll-to-find-the-most-popular-day/ Share on other sites
Mellors
For some reason there never seems to be much on on a Monday (unless I am missing it all!).I would say mornings (say, 10am) work best, as afternoons tend to be naptime (can be anywhere between 12 - 3) and then it gets a bit late/dark/grumpy for trips out in winter. snowboarder
Oh - tues or wednesday? Agree midweek mornings best - Monday is new se22 bumps and babes day, friday lots of baby groups. Sounds a great idea!! lorraineliyanage
Hi - Mondays and Fridays are a no-go unfortunately, but 10am sounds like a good time to go with. We might be able to vary the day of the week so that as many people as possible can attend. I'm also wondering if weekly would be too often to run a group? amydown
There seem to be a few things that take place on Thur mornings (Pilates for mums and babies at Push if I'm not mistaken and also a baby singing class I went along to last week). My vote is for Tue or Wed! lorraineliyanage
wednesdays are looking like the day, then!amy - push studios have two rooms now, so unless both are in use at the same time, we will be able to have whichever one is free. Billy
Hi. I am a new Mum looking to join a mother and baby group and Wednesday sounds great. Look forward to hearing more. Sanne Panne
Tue, Wed and Thu all sound good (I have a preference for Thu). I think it would be great to start as early in the morning as possible (9 or 10am) because of the majority of the bigger babies' and toddlers' naptime. Cora
I'm for 10am...it give new mothers/fathers time to get up in the morning and ones with siblings to drop them off at nursery.. lorraineliyanage
I am not sure how many people would turn up at 9am but we could give that a go, the group could run from 9am - 12 perhaps Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/8911-edf-playgroup-please-vote-on-the-poll-to-find-the-most-popular-day/#findComment-270791 Share on other sites
snowboarder
Even at 8 months we still have a first nap 8.30-9.15 ish - so tough to start at 9am! What age group are you targeting Lorraine? lorraineliyanage
All ages from 0 - pre-school. There will never be a time that suits everyone but hopefully 9 - 11 or 12 will fit with most people's nap times. My daughter never naps in the day so I can so any time! amydown
I too would struggle to make it for 9! My 8-week old will be up (from 6am in fact - could go to work with hubby!) but I find myself needing to stay in bed for a bit longer... 9-11 session sounds like a good idea! budur
i think 9 is pushing it, think 10 would be perfect, mine still has a morning nap, Mon, thursday would be great for us, been on a waiting list for a year for the wednesday play group and we're finally in! lorraineliyanage
Thursday mornings are also a possibility, I don't think there are many playgroups running on Thursdays. Also, I'll need mums to help run the group as I may not be able to be there weekly, so it will have to suit the days that the group organisers can do. Let me know if you'd like to help out.Edited to add that I'll organise the NCT teagroup separately as this is only suitable for small babies, no toddlers allowed usually. Emski
Sounds like you've pretty much decided on a time, but just in case I can change anyone's mind, I'd like to vote for an afternoon session (don't mind which day, but pref not Thurs if poss). It seems like all the playgroup, sing sessions and so on are in the morning and there's not much to do in the afternoons (apart from 1 o'clock club). If I'm wrong, please let me know! Dulwich Born And Bred
My son sleeps until 12 so it would be great to have an afternoon session too. urchin
Hi,I'd also vote for something in the afternoons - maybe 3ish, as there's very little to do after a naptime. In the morning, my son often sleeps around 9.30 for 45 mins so for us, an 11 0'clock class is better. bee74
Hello everyoneI also think there is nothing much on during Monday or Thursday afternoon around 3 pm... If I am wrong PLEASE let me know (apart from 1 o'clock club on Thur).Otherwise 9.30-12 seems good. snowboarder
Don't afternoons get in way of school pick up etc? We never seem to manage to do much in the afternoon other than a stroll and last snooze around 3/4ish. Mind you weaning seems to mean we're always eating and it takes ages..!! lorraineliyanage
Afternoons aren't really ideal for anyone doing a school pick-up plus if it starts at 3, it means everyone will be walking home in the dark. I think 9.30 - 12 is looking more popular!
