London Overground is run by a German/Hong Kong company on behalf of TfL: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/London_Overground_Rail_Operations_Limited

Likewise Southern is run by a French company on behalf of the Department for Transport etc.

Oh dear...

"In July 2015, Transport for London announced the shortlisted bidders for the next concession were Arriva Rail London Ltd, LoKeGo Ltd (a joint venture of Keolis and Go-Ahead Group), Metroline Rail Ltd and MTR Corporation"

So the Go Ahead Group (ie Govia/Southern etc.) would still have their fingers in the pie after all! Trebles all round!

Even if the company behind Southern and Southeastern operate the London Overground concession, it's TfL who stipulate the services operated and is accountable to the Mayor of London. This is the same model that is used on the DLR and buses.

The current operator LOROL has done an excellent job in providing the Overground service so far and the new company will also have to provide the same level of service according to TfL guidelines.

In the meantime, over on the Catford loop line (Crofton Park etc) and thus affecting Peckham Rye, Nunhead, Denmark Hill, we are battling away with the particularly awful Thameslink service

Would very much appreciate signatures on our petition to improve it.
