well, she got that the wrong way round! sony own 35% of syco

just ignore me

I try, Sean. I try.

Indeed, Titch.

Cowell's only worth a piffling ?125m or so. Not quite ready to buy his way into Sony just yet.

In any case, record sales aren't worth much to Simes anyway. His money comes from TV. So, if (like half the people busily downloading RATM) you've spent the last three months watching X-Factor, it's akin to handing the man a ?20 note and then asking for a penny back.

Part of the whole Xfactor product is that the winner always gets the Christmas number 1. If that doesn't happen this year then it ever so slightly damages the brand. Surely that has to be a good thing? Even if it is water off a duck's back to Cowell & co.

We know you like having a go Bob and while it isn?t always ingratiating it is at least intelligent and amusing but now I think you are taking this too seriously. It?s popular music. Whether it?s Jeff Buckley, Britney Spears, the Cheeky Girls or RATM they are all just dancing monkeys.

Ok there is truly independent music out there but they?re just badly paid dancing monkeys with better taste than to subscribe to one of the genres pre-ordained by the big 4.

But taking the piss in an effort to confusticate the plans for a Christmas number one is hardly some sort of organised rebellion against the big 4.

Oh and did I mention, twat.

What have I missed?

*bob*'s first post on this thread cracked me up.

However, Rage DO rock! They did indeed reform a while back, and headlined Reading (I think it was Reading), but in typical, and really rather annoying, RAGE fashion, they refused to have their set filmed, so there was no footage on TV.

I heard an awsome cover of "Killing in the name" this year, by a friend of a friend's band, rolled back the years to being 15 in the New Cross Inn. :)-D

As an aside, Simon Cowell was on Newsnight talking about a political debate, with public vote on specific topics, kind of show. He is a clever man, but it is so so sad, that this would actually be a storming success in todays UK.

This thread is so worth bumping from page 2 of the lounge.

Have you bought your single yet? Why not? Do you want a billionnaire dictating to you what rocks and what doesn't for the foreseeable future? Buy the bloody song then. It's a great song.

I suggest everybody gets out there and buys as many copies of Joe Thingy's record as soon as possible.

Word on the street is that if Rage win, X-Factor will be dropped from the TV schedules and replaced by a weekly two-hour special consisting of Rage Against The Machine playing their pompous musical toecurler over and over whilst a procession of monks set fire to themselves live on stage.

Both flats in house had access to a shared garden which was fenced off part way with each flat having their own piece of land. The front garden was shared and since both flats had young children, they put up a fence and gate between front door and pavement. Nothing was said by the council and even though those neighbours are now living else where, the fence and gate still remain and Southwark owns the freehold.
