It might be a coincidence but at around the same time my boyfriend was in Peckham at his parents last night and they had their road blocked off by loads of plain clothes police with guns and dogs who entered a property in what seemed to be a very planned opereation. Maybe they were connected and timed to happen at the same time? Or just completely separate.

Sue, a very similar situation arose in the house next to me a few years back. Just heading out to meet friends for dinner and suddenly a man with a big gun was pointing at me shouting 'Get in, get in!' Turned out my neighbours had been dealing drugs and they were doing a Southwark wide bust - hence the silence arrivals, immediate armed action etc.

Atleast they are doing something other than standing at the train station!

It must have been a big operation then because armed police were all hanging out on the corner of Silvester Rd & Cyrena Rd too where they had lots of flash unmarked vehicles, big guns, all plain clothes plus those police baseball type caps, a load of them ran off towards whately rd at one point and then came back and still hung around for ages...this was all while before the helicopter & sirens
One would have thought that all these unmarked vehicles that attended are now exposed as they have been retained on any local CCTV. It seems a sheer waste of money having to change them just for the sake of retaining a person for depositing a peice of paper in the wrong Wheelie Bin.
Prior to the helicopter there was a lot of commotion at the end of Landells road. I looked out of the window to see a car, doors open, rolling along down the road with no one in it. Two police with machine guns running after it and after managing to get the car before it collided with any parked cars reverse it back to where all the rest of the commotion was going on. Lots of goings on which without actually leaving the house I couldn't really see. Then after a bit the helicopter. Felt like suddenly ED had become a guest episode in the wire.

From memory the tale of the East European brothel in East Dulwich also had more than one post bigging it up :))

And, er, out of all the people who have read this thread, how do you know "it is just you (ie me) that fails to believe" - do you have the amazing ability to read the mind of all these people, when presumably you do not even know who they are?!

If I hear from an official source that this story is true, then I will believe it. Until then, some of the details that have been given on this thread cause me to doubt it. OK?

Just because several posters have described something doesn't make it true. People make up all sorts of things, for all sorts of reasons, and other people go along with them, for all sorts of reasons.

I also know of someone who was caught up in this incident and I think it is insulting to those who were disturbed or genuinely frightened by what happened the other night to be told it was a figment of their imagination. Thankfully it was over and done with in quite a short space of time considing how many officers were invovlved but just because it wasn`t outside your front door, it doesn`t mean it didn`t take place.

Actually it was nearly outside my front door - I live in Ulverscroft Road. And I didn't see or hear a thing.

I'm not saying "it didn't take place". If you read my posts you will see that.

And I'm not insulting anyone.

I just don't believe everything I read on this forum posted by people I don't know without some form of supportive evidence, particularly when it includes detail like a load of plain clothes police still wearing their police caps. Sorry but I don't find that very credible.

If someone I knew and trusted had seen this incident and told me about it, then of course that would be different.

When plain clothes officers are involved in a situation they will wear something to identify themselves as being part of the operation in progress, would be a bit stupid if officers from another unit couldn`t identify them as being on the same side. A cap is small enough to be hidden whilst they are acessing a situation and blatently obvious when used. This method is often used. I heard the helicopter that evening and am not to far from you.

Yes I heard the helicopter, I never doubted that as I heard it myself.

Anyway, I don't think it's very fruitful to continue this discussion on this thread.

My position is still that I will believe this when it's confirmed by an official source or by someone I know and trust, but really that is of no interest to anyone else.

So if you want to continue telling me that I should believe it, please PM me, thanks.

Can you tell us more? Or would you have to kill us afterwards?

    • I've found it quite a useful thread.  Apparently protein powders are toxic. Not that I have ever, or will ever, try them.   https://www.health.harvard.edu/staying-healthy/the-hidden-dangers-of-protein-powders
    • Personally can’t stand carpets however where I am renting has carpet in  bedroom and hall. Not great quality and certainly not cleaned. Was  in B & M recently and looking at carpet shampoo -wow got a can costing £2.99 to test.. No scrubbing as others seemed to imply. Spray, leave and poof - smells great, no dabbing or scrubbing and c leaving rubbish. First to admit is only temp solution but no need to hire carpet cleaner instantly  or pay for a company to come and deal with professionally. For 3/6 months happy to have used this - Have a carpet cleaner and in a month or so plan to use it.    Buy a steam cleaner for floors - not expensive - much better than mop and bucket and more hygienic all round. Can pick up second hand ones on e bay.
    • Is this a true story? What protein powder causes kidney damage? Why didn't you cite an article? I shop at H&B, mostly to buy their castor oil, however, I would recommend researching any product beforehand. They do have very informative articles on their website. To be honest, I don't see the point of this post. You could have just taken the product back for a refund or complained in store and in writing.
    • Well the Italian on Lordship Lane  recommended here was delicious.  Thank you so very much -my party were extremely pleased with ambience, location and lovely food plus puddings to die for. They are also on Deliveroo.  Will certainly be back when I am back in 6 weeks time. Went past Love Dulwich at lunchtime on my way to Italian - only a party of 2 - food might be excellent but decided to give it a miss - wasn’t impressed with manager who admitted he had only been there 2 weeks. Might be being totally unfair but doubt it, as no comments since about a month ago from Pugwash.
