Obviously being from the dreaded north of the river, they're gastro loving, cocktail guzzlers, non?

How about a pre meal drink in inside 72, a slap-up meal in Franklins or the Palmerston, followed by cocktails in either Liquorish or the Black Cherry (sorry TBC)

In that case a few pints in the EDT having met them at the station and escorted them to GGR, assuring them the whole time that it's a safe pocket of south london.

Then some food in one of the many eateries, how about Tandoori Knights? (I've always wanted it to be called that).

Thence to the CPT for some proper back street boozing, a good south london atmosphere, and a host of aussies to make your friend feel at home?

IF they make it from the station to LL, then they have a fighting chance of seeing the next dawn - Is-72 is good - if a little noisy when the owner begins to ..erm...DJ may not be the right word - Liquorish OK - Bishop is a bit, well....

Thinks of LL as the "Green zone", wheareas anywhere North of Goose Green School as "Sadr City"

Where is this "North of the River" place you talk of? Somewhere in Penge?

Anyway the main drag area of LL is always a good area to stick around when you got guest as you can just pop your head in to the various establishments 'till you find one to suit your vibe.

What I found out recently is that the Palmeston is actually quite a good place for a good boozing session after the dinner time rush is over and it stays open til about 1 I think. Good if you want good atmosphere but don?t want the crowds of the EDT, Bishop or in72.

Bring them in via Peckham Rye station to give them the 'feel' of the place. Make sure it's towards to the end of the retail day, because that's when you get the treat of mutton and goat; that has been hanging from a hook all day in the sun, sold of cheap. You can pick up half a goat for only ?9.99.

May be a problem storing it when you go into the pub....then again depends what pub! If you get to The Castle I'm sure it wouldn't be a problem.

    • I hate cooking and I can't cook. I live on stuff out of the freezer which I cook once every six months. I exaggerate only slightly.
    • Simply, give us a snap election now as the last 12 months in office honestly have not been great in any sense. Let someone else have a go at turning around UK plc before it's too late. At least the last administration had the inflation and unemployment rates going in the right direction at the END.
    • Yes but what's the answer, Jazzer? No government can simply walk in and fix the economy - get the bills down, grow it and reduce debt. There is no silver bullet. The public (and the press) wants everything now, everything cheaper, but with better public services and lower taxes.  In the radio and paper, all you ever hear is pundits, MPs, think tanks and economists saying what won't work, but no one seems to know what will work.  I'm genuinely interested to hear what other views people have on here, and what they think will help, or make things worse.
    • While they struggle with economics of UK plc, collectively we all suffer as a result of their ineptitude.
