Only seen 1 of these pics. Dulwich Hospital was named "King's College Hospital - East Dulwich annexe" for a period to the mid-70s, and did still have a maternity ward then: it was also thought a good nicer than the one at King's by a mother of my acquaintance...

The buildings at the cross roads at Lordship Lane, Barry Road, and Eynella Road, have changed so much in the last century,

The attached picture is the old buildings opposite the St Thomas Moore R.C Church Lordship Lane , in the background can be seen the Christ Church Barry Road . In those days there were shops in the same place, as today.

Today the site 397, 399, 401 Lordship Lane SE22, comprises of Costcutter , D.V.R. , Badger Bakery.

The ( Passmore Edwards ) Dulwich Library, was damaged in the second world war, there were for the duration two brick flat roofed Air Raid Shelters built in the grounds, one in the corner of the gardens further away from the main building at a gate in Eyenella Road, the other facing Lordship Lane , the latter one was converted into public toilets, they have been removed now.

The Lordship Lane R.C Church was damaged several times as many bombs dropped nearby, the Vicarage behind was quite damaged.

The Post Office during the war was in the row of shops in Woodwarde Road next to the Alley way that went through to Lordship Lane.

    • Hello - If anybody has any hifi valve amplifiers, working or in need of restoration, I'm keen to buy such things from you! I particularly like amps from the 50s and 60s, the sort of thing you used to find in old sideboards, but ultimately anything with glass tubes sticking out of them is of interest to me. I am also in the market for good quality hifi items in general, particularly faulty items in need of fixing and restoration. This includes turntables, amplifiers, cd players, speakers, graphic EQs, cassette players, reel to reel players, etc. etc. Ultimately, all electronic musical objects are of intrigue to me. Many thanks, and hope to hear from you soon, -Scott 07956 853 538
