Rianoo
I have noticed that some parks around South London give opening times on their gates although they generally seem to be open earlier than that. Does Dulwich Park stick to its 8am opening time ? The reason I ask is that it is fully gated unlike others. Earl Aelfheah
I think gates are meant to be open from 7.30 am throughout the year. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/99154-dulwich-park/#findComment-977401 Share on other sites
Sue
I find it weird that Peckham Rye Park is still open well after dark. I thought it must be a mistake and they had forgotten to shut the gates, until I checked the times. Rianoo
@SueThe front gates at P Rye park do shut but there are no other gates so you can just wonder in around the back. Probably why there were loads of tin foil cups in there this morning !! Applespider
The gates are normally open well before 8. I usually cycle through just beforehand but have been 30+ minutes earlier on occasion and they have been open Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/99154-dulwich-park/#findComment-977670 Share on other sites

DulwichFox
Probably a while to get round all the gates so will not all open / close at the same time.. .. also the need to check all people are out of the park before closing the last gate.. Foxy.. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/99154-dulwich-park/#findComment-978124 Share on other sites
minder
Southwark made cutbacks to people opening up/closing their parks a few years ago so they can't be everywhere at once. The smaller parks are sometimes the last ones to close but it doesn't always work like that. I've been thrown out at 4pm in the past. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/99154-dulwich-park/#findComment-978127 Share on other sites

sunbob
? It has gates all the way round. They gradually go round at the closing time for the time of year finishing with the gate by the car park (useful to know if your usual gate is already shut and you don't fancy climbing over).Rianoo Wrote:-------------------------------------------------------> @Sue> > The front gates at P Rye park do shut but there> are no other gates so you can just wonder in> around the back. Earl Aelfheah
According to southwark's website all park gates should be opened by 7:30 http://www.southwark.gov.uk/info/200073/parks_and_open_spaces/600/opening_hours Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/99154-dulwich-park/#findComment-978793 Share on other sites
James Barber
I have an update.Southwark Council are obtaining a quote for new signs to match the website stated opening times so the physical signage and online signage match. No clear timescales of when this will be fixed but council officers are on the case. Bic Basher
Is it only College Gate that has the sign? I don't think I've seen them at the other gates, although I think Court Lane Gate should have one as it's the gate that people use from Dulwich Library. mikeb
John - original act talks of permitting the MWB to close the park "between such hours of night as the Board may from time to time prescribe". You could interpret this to mean dusk to dawn, but it's a little vague.Perhaps there is more in the papers relating to the gift by the Governors of the Estate.https://www.thegazette.co.uk/London/issue/25533/page/5530/data.pdf Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/99154-dulwich-park/#findComment-1009669 Share on other sites
steveo
There's a prat burning around the park and environs on a motorbike, and I think the police have been chasing him for a while. Somebody get his number plate? It's prob stolen but you never know Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/99154-dulwich-park/#findComment-1012438 Share on other sites
