Why are garden parties with members from different households allowed???

Yes they are NOT allowed only people from same household are allowed together in garden or house.

you could have BBQ with people you live with but no one else for instance

Too many people not taking this seriously. Sunbathing, going for a leisurely stroll for coffee/ice creams, drinking beers in the park, garden parties and BBQs, people walking side-by-side on the pavement and not making space for others.

Probably the same people constantly moaning on social media about this is all the Tories fault.

There are clearly selfish behaviours (particularly when out walking)- although considering the government is now urging us to take Vitamin D supplements I would not over worry about isolated (and isolating) sunbathing incidents - but we will get through this by tolerating others when they are not actually putting themselves or others at risk, but maybe simply trying to take a little pleasure in the weather (sadly not today). The issue is about maintaining social isolation to avoid catching the thing and then giving it to others. You are not just playing chicken with your own health, and that's the message which hasn't quite got through. But getting annoyed because other people might be enjoying this more than you (so long as they aren't endangering others...)

And those who want to leap into a Stasi state of informing on 'transgressors' - make sure you know what laws (as opposed to 'advice') are being broken. And don't leap to conclusions if you hear laughter or see merriment.

so there is no danger to others. - Because you are all self distancing, wearing masks, not going near anyone vulnerable (including those not blessed with your relative youth, not touching stuff outside)... If you were all genuinely self isolating and only going out to meet in one house, and then going back to a locked-down state... but you're not, are you? You're 'exercising' and shopping and all the other stuff, because, hey, you're 30 and safe.

You (and people with your attitude) are the reason why people are still going down with the virus 4 and more weeks after lock-down, and why people will by dying into May and beyond. And why the lock-down will continue. Thanks a bunch!

Well this is bollox. I take it seriously and am annoyed by the things you mention but it IS the fault of the Tories. We've been very poorly served. Haven't you noticed the correlation between those who aren't taking the lockdown seriously and the right wing?

No I haven't noticed the correlation. And there's no way you can possibly know that.

Yeah the govt royally screwed up procurement of PPE for hospitals (and the advice not to wear masks I now believe was mainly because of this), but ultimately they have told us to stay at home as much as possible and maintain a distance from others. But people aren't doing that.

So if I may return your lovely compliment, you are talking absolute crap.

They did too little too late and have been too weak re the lockdown. Which is why we are in such a bad state now.

We should have locked down sooner,

This is going to have serious repercussions for years to come,

and the longer this goes on, it is going to get worse.

If everybody respected others, stayed at home, not socialised outside of house

went out when necessary only, and social distanced.

We all may be able to enjoy our summer and the rest of our lives.

Agree with many of the points. Lockdown should have come a couple of weeks earlier. Should be more restrictive, maybe enforced more proactively. This would all make a difference. But there's only so much you can do, you can't physically lock people in their homes. It was always going to be a collective effort.

Even on this forum, many are in favour of popping out for a coffee or ice cream. And defending sunbathing and picnics in the park. If that's the way you feel then fair enough, everyone's entitled to their own opinion, but it is not indicative of a city taking serious precautions.

The America comparison doesn't hold up for me, we don't have the same concept of civil liberty being so intertwined with right wing politics.

The problem is if you nip out for a coffee or icecream

you are risking becoming ill, And possibly the poor buggers who may have to treat

you in hospital.

Go out if it is essential, but you are also putting others at risk

if you become ill. We must learn to respect others,
