Recycling collection not happened - 3+ weeks and counting

Recommended Posts

'Lol maybe it's art of a plot by Southwark to make us pay for all recycling 🤐'

Don't give them any ideas!!!!

I have never had a problem with them coming round after a reported missed collection, but maybe I've been lucky so far on the couple of occasions I've had to chase them up.

Local councillor intervention???

I don't think they have to put them back in your garden, ours are not on my road & it says on the leaflets that you are supposed to leave your bin outside your garden for their collection too.

ours wasn't collected week before last, it was also full up to the top so I reported a missed collection online & they came & emptied it the next day.

The blue bin crew on my run this morning were all new (to this route) and only one person on the brown bin lorry was part of the regular crew on my run. Crews and routes are clearly being changed (and Southwark said as much in their circular) although my collection dates haven't changed, just the people doing the collection.

Hopefully this will all settle down soon and proper collections will resume, but, with the new system starting next week (but most of the necessary impedimenta - new bins and stickers - not yet having been issued) don't hold your breath. My brown bin man says take-up of paid for garden collections has been low across the borough, but of course many residents are not blessed with gardens in the north. He didn't know what the take-up was specifically in the Dulwichs.

My fear is that we will see a lot more dumping and hijacking of legitimate large brown bins by those choosing not to pay.

Is your collection assisted or not ?

Assisted means they enter the property to get the bin out and put it back in

If not then you get it out and pull it back In

Bins are collected from outside of the property and bin man is not a milkman who will know on your door and tell you good morning and ask where do you want it

    • Have you tried buying or selling second hand baby or kids gear? You can find great products at a bargain price, but it can be frustrating. Tracking down the right product takes a lot of work, items rarely come as advertised and delivery options are limited. We’re talking 2 hour round trips to pick-up that perfect Bugaboo stroller, which turned out to be missing a wheel!   And what about reselling? Our kids outgrow everything so fast and the cupboards fill up with clutter that we’re not using anymore. Listing second hand items for sale is a lot of effort, it takes time and you often don’t get a fair price at the end of it.   We’re parents in Dulwich who decided to create a better way to buy and sell second hand baby and kids gear online.  Our marketplace www.rekiddle.com is launching this Summer. • Some new places opening soon on Rye Lane: Cafe Britaly - a 'British Italian' cafe opening next week (8th May). Its situated near the south of Rye Lane, near Four Quarters in the venue which was formally Taco Queen and Supa Ya Ramen. https://cafebritaly.com/   There appears to be a Vietnamese cafe under works a few doors along next to Woodfall Opticians, according to a sign in the window, however I couldn't find an opening date or any info about it online
