  1. Some classic bigbadwolf there. And that's not good thing.
  2. fine idea - ages ago a cat kept coming round and we wondered if it was a stray, so we put on a collar with a note inside: name, mobile number, call if yours or we're getting it chipped and keeping it. Called that night. At least you know. with our current cats you can feel where the chip is, back of the neck, just above the shoulder blades. bit bigger than a grain of rice. just gives you an idea of whether of not it's worth checking it with a vet.
  3. Just one where the novelty factor wore off at about 9am. Good luck to everyone trying to make it in tomorrow
  4. Above is an angry post written as my upstairs neighbour and his mates let their snowball fight spill into the communal hall, caking the place in snow and possibly knackering the front door in the process of slamming it continuously in it's secondary role as a shield. Giggirl, wee quinnie, both quite right - depends on many factors and is quite reasonable for many people, as well as out of both character and control for many. I'm just already very, very bored of the snow. Will retreat back to my cave and continue with the all new, improved, 2009 version of my plan to finally steal Christmas. http://www.nycny.com/movies/the_grinch/grinch.jpg
  5. That's the first 6 threads in the ED section and the first 3 in the lounge ALL ABOUT FUCKING-SNOW. I dragged my arse in today and I'll do the same tomorrow. Not everything comes to a grinding halt just because of a set of weather conditions that were predicted days ago. Get it together, ED: The wanky demographic of this area is s'posed to be young professional, I wonder if we might pay that last word a tad more than just lip service.
  6. I got in, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, at 8.30 this morning to be told that I was the only one out of the 50 of us to show up. Building closed as nobody to open it up, just the security guard delivering this message. Boss was in but when I rang him he said not to come in, seemed rather surprised when I told him i was there already. Found things to keep myself busy for a couple of hours then headed home via the chaos of sainsburys. Interesting times.
  7. south east cars off peckham rye. can't remember how much they were but seem to remember thinking it was pretty cheap at the time

  11. He might not be advertising anyhting (yet) but are you honestly saying that you think Ben Elton hasn't sold out?!
  12. There's a German sausie stall in borough market - i think they do franks, but their bratwurst are truely to behold. Other than that, I'm the one man in the whole of london that likes the salmonella-dogs from the vendors in cov.garden. Don't even have to be pissed.
  13. May Sell Out... Will Sell Out... Selling Out... Sold Out.
  14. i think the captioning arguement has gone backwards and forwards a few times, and the result was no, if only because there are a few of us who work in public service in the area who like to keep bits of life seperate.
  15. AH but just re-read your question-post - so who scored when they drew? I think they drew at some point in the 70's, but I'm afraid it was before my time. Any older rugby fans know this one?
  16. trick question - ireland have never beaten the all blacks.
  17. I can think of a few dubious ones...
  18. glad to see you took that so well - first chucking a collosal tantrum about it being a common typo, then nipping back half an hour later with a new definition and reviewed perspective. Slow night in the burbs? ;-) Why is it more common? I'd imagine that more people are being coaxed into the world of text and internet life but can't type. As for the status of "teh" as an internet neologism with its own separate meaning, I was not aware of it so I thank you, the forum and the internet in general for educating me. PS - I have just had to correct the typo of "hte" - is that a further, different neologistic definite article with established rules of use, or am I just crap at typing?

It's not packed out during the day, but it's not a workin-chaps-lunchtime-pint venue so it's not going to be. It seems to be doing well in the evenings. I hope it says putt (sp?).
  20. Have just sat down for a quick forum-skim and have come across this thread. I get that text speak is annoying, but "the" vs "teh" is not text speak, it's just a typo: same three letters, put in the wrong order. Yes? So if this thread is about text speak and why that is annoying then fair play, if it is about "why is a certain typo so common" then give over you daft sod.
  21. err... no. Fair few diploma courses still going, just as a point of accuracy. I've always considered that the reason nursing pay will never, as buggie and a few others have alluded to, compare with managerial responsibilities in other sectors is that a human life and its quality are not, technically, worth anything. Those with responsibilites for a similar sized team in, for example, finance or marketing can easily demonstrate how much they are worth. Their team implements an initiative, it makes the company ?x, they are, as a team, worth a % of x. But a life and its quality are not quantifiable in the same way, so there is no x to allocate a % of. The same goes for teachers. Coppers are a tad better off for the addition of danger money. Anyway, just to play devil's advocate in a practical sense for just a second: i think nurses deserving better money is frequently raised, but there are over 685,000 registered nurses in the UK. Where exactly would the money come from? Like all well heeled points of "fairness", the complainants rarely have a practical solution. There isn't one. you believe in the NHS, you accept that there is no more money. If you champion privitisation or similar, there's realistic wiggle room. But that's a whole different issue/arguement/thread, and a bit ouroboros...
  22. You took medication that you didn't need and it did what it's s'posed to do, only more so because you didn't need it? I wonder if there's any way you could have foreseen such an outcome? This is only marginally more worrying than the fact that you and your mates thought it seemed like a good use of an evening to sit in and get wood together...

    bed time

Weekly total for me - I can fly by on 5-6hrs per night for a couple of nights and then a 10-hour-monster-kip will be needed to catch up. I can't sustain that for more than a week without the catch up, Hence weekly total.
  24. Yesterday was, indeed, the mutha of all mondays. 10 hours of swimming through metaphorical treacle, then 2-3hrs at home of preparing for today. Today a pain, have at least another hour or 2 of preparing for tomorrow still to do. Tomorrow looks like being embarassingly under-prepared. Thursday am expected to be in 2 places at once. Friday is what the boss refers to as "the heavier day of the week". Arse.
