I used to be relatively confused by coffee, despite loving it, until I discovered Monmouth Coffee in Borough Market. It's not OTT pricing (though not cheap as chips either - you get what you pay for), and the staff are happy to chat and educate in the mysterious ways of coffee. The shops do "today's coffee" which is just a different one of their supply each day, so that they don't have to prat about with different beans for the cups to drink at the time. You could do a lot worse than to get a bag of whatever that is on the day you go there (ground for cafetieres to save you a bit of hassle), which gives you something different most times, and then describe it generally as "guest-coffee from monmouth" - people who just want a nice cup of coffee will probably like the sound of it, and to anyone in SE london who knows their coffee it will be quite a classy touch without breaking the bank. They apparently do mail-order but you need to know what you're asking for. Whatever you go for, my 2 tips would be 1. individual cafetieres beat hotplate-pot everytime for freshness 2. store coffee grounds somewhere dark and cool but not cold (ie not fridge or freezer, as some people advocate - ruins the flavour) Best of luck Benjaminty's!

What the hell is going on on Barry Road? (shooting)

Very wise words, Asset. I feel sad that there is violent crime anywhere, and specifically on our doorstep. Sad for the person involved and their family, and the geography forces me to attend to it. But unless I went and got involved in the whole gang issue, I only think it puts me at any increased risk if I happen to chance by and see something that I'm not meant to. -
Mikecg Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > No Bignumber5 > > Your missing the point. Am I? So sorry. For the record, here is my point: Shit around food is unhygienic. Boobs around food are not. Boobs do not dispense waste products that spread disease, they dispense nourishment for very little people. And personally, I don't find breasts offensive in appearance. I don't find children eating to be an offensive concept. So I'm not offended by public breast-feeding. I can understand that some might, particularly cultures and religions in which the exposure of the human body is not the done thing, and I would expect any woman currently breast-feeding who is visiting Tehran to consider very carefully how proudly they wish to stand up for their right to feed their child in public. But we live in Dulwich.

What Moos said. Big pile of shit got out next to dinner table when there's a seperate, closed door location to do so about 20 feet away - bad. Very young child having fresh, warm milk puts you off your latte? Really?

Either some quality piss-taking or proving my earlier point, I lack the subtlety radar needed to distinguish. To the critics above: seriously, what's wrong with using the forum for this kind of stuff? Never had one of those moments? A moment where something happens and you think you're entitled to be outraged, but the other party seems totally disinterested, so you start a thread to test the waters and maybe get some reassurance that you weren't being unreasonable. I think it's exactly what the forum is for, if that's what you need it to be for at that moment: all things to all men an' that.

didn't think it was - I'd say we're agreeing on pretty much the whole lot, but from opposite perspectives, which is most refreshing. But I just don't believe that the Moosling howls in public ;-)

Addressed to the wrong person and jam-packed with spelling mistakes, but otherwise faultless. Almost. ish... ------ Moos, it wasn't a swipe at parents in general, it was unfortunately based on experience: when I have previously followed a course of action such as saying "excuse me, could you please not do that" the response has been pretty ranty (defensiveness, mostly, and that's not unexpected given the circumstances) but the phrase that sneaks in is "...it's ok for you to say things like that, I bet you haven't even got children" at which point I have given the whole business up as a bad job. I rarely bother saying anything now, nor do I involve a manager of anykind as recommended earlier in this thread as I believe quite vehemently that it's not fair to send someone else over to say what I no longer have the energy or faith in the goodwill of others to pursue.

At the risk of agreeing with bigbadwolf, Food and drinks being served and consumed = no deliberate, avoidable release of faeces in the immediate area. Surely that's just good hygeine and common courtesy towards your fellow-man? But then I don't have kids, and I'm fairly sure that makes my opinion on this almost entirely in-valid in the eyes of the nappy-changer. ----------------- *BBW and BN5 sit opposite eachother on leather chairs, one stroking white cat, the other flanked by uniformed heavies* *We're not so different, you and I?* ;-)

I'm me, only uncensored by embarassment - those rants that I wouldn't necessarily unload in person I feel I can let-fly on here. Or at least that was forum-me. Oddly, now I've got to know people in person, I don't have that comfortable anonimity anymore, so I'm starting to feel like censoring myself again. -
Many Happy Returns to Mrs number5... aka annaj ;-)

or import the whole thing from it's new location, but depending on how much music you have this can take fecking hours. add folder to library and don't go detailed, just click on the overall folder that it's all in.

Bossman Organic Wine Shop

Who cares! Funnily enough, that's all I'm trying to say! I don't specifically need/want/have any possible use for an organic offi, and I don't think bossman is a bad offi, but I don't like things claiming to be something they are not. It feels deceitful somehow, however transparent the deceit. I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing to "care" about where you shop or why you choose to shop there. I sort of assumed that was the point of this thread, and loads of near-identical ones, here on the discerning-consumer-forum ;-) Essentially, though, I think we seem to agree on the main point. You're just more articulate than me! -
Surely it'll end up being something different - aren't Somerfield on their arse at the moment? Bought, applied for and developed before el depression, I assume, and not yet sold off...

If someone offered to lend you their car, and it turned out to be a tricycle, it would not be knocking the concept of tricycles, or cars, or debating which is better, to state that you had been misled... -
nor at similar mismanagement of Wooster...

*puts down copy of Guardian and adjusts reading spectacles* Should I have done this before or after you called me a dickhead?

I sincerely hope you're right

Particularly if you are a minor on a bus. If you're older, he tends to just wait til you fall on your arse and then laughs. Apparently fitted into a busy day of drowning cats and selling weed. Respect? Really?
