Where does it say that all the topics in the drawing room have to be "serious"? As I understand it, it is for discussions that you want to have, without going off topic. I know the guitar discussion is a bit daft, but there are plenty of music people on here, and I am genuinely interested in opinions. Next time I'll be a bit more "proper", and start a thread on brass Vs woodwind. By the way, I am not the chair. I could have been, but I am too busy.
  3. LOL, Touche! Sorry Sean. I started a thread called "Finally a serious debate - Fender or Gibson" (or something like that), which I thought was inoffensive, and light hearted. It has been edited to read just "Fender or Gibson". That's a touch too serious for me. Still, early days.
  4. Matthew, do you think Owen will do badly at United? I doubt he'll play a whole season, but I expect him to be top scorer or there abouts.
  5. What a fine time of year for the best birthdays, many happy returns Moos x *Returns birthday hug*

  7. Many a fine guitarist has used the Fender strat over the years, and I am no one to argue with the likes of Jeff Beck. BUT, I hate the feel of them, and am not keen on the sound. Gibson Les Paul every time for me, and SG's are nice too. Think I just like that very fat, bottom heavy sound the Les Paul has, and find Fenders a bit tinny. Oh, and Slash uses Gibsons! Discuss.
  8. Hmm, not so sure.

    OASIS -

I agree completely that nothing is totally original. However, some people put a new twist on something, others just rip off what came before them.
  10. In which city was the first performance of Handel's Messiah? Dublin.

    OASIS -

With regards Oasis, I have never bought an album, and have never liked their attitude to anything. What they did do, was learn the art of writing anthems that would get everyone singing along. They have never done anything I'd call original though. Last decent single IMO was Little by Little, again because of the ring along anthem thing going on.
  12. Yay Buggie, Happy Birthday!
  13. Just heard this for the first time in a long time, but "Kissing You" by Des'ree, from Romeo & Juliet, is wonderful.
  14. I saw the Empire of Cricket about the West Indies, and yes, very good.
  15. Cries 2009 hand being released august 7th. Has potential to be pretty cool on Wii.
  16. Unskinny Bop is a masterpiece of song writing, the like of which make Bob Dylan look ordinary.
  17. To each their own, I don't know loads of their stuff, but the way they did Wild Horses was pretty haunting IMO. Just shows what you can do with a load of reverb!
  18. Seriously man, I grew up after that, and started listening to serious bands like Poison!
  19. Fine bands the lot of them :-S (actually, I admit to listening to all 3 a bit as a teenager)
  20. Happy Birthday Val, good choice of day to be born! :)-D
  21. Dave Grohl's voice in "Best of you" is pretty powerful.
  22. I guess it could in theory end up with a nice blond family of Americans being plastered on to a BNP leaflet or something.
  23. I think he was talking about Man U / Man City, and Tevez.
  24. Yeah we used to do open mics at the plough, but since my partner in crime moved out of London, and my daughter arrived, I've not got my arse in to gear to sort it out. We sis it once a month, and got some great acts coming along. Problem was that the plough never had their own PA, despite constantly saying they were going to get one. Got very very annoying! I think the Magnolia might be doing something on Fridays, but have yet to get down there.
  25. Bloody good to see you to Anna! (and other Anna) My whole body hurts, thank God for days off! By the way, finished up in The Castle last night, and it's nice. Still the same place really, just with a bit of smartening up.
