Maurice has already touched on it, and he was around at the time, so knows more than me. I'd say, in an abstract way, that the positive feeling of anything is possible, probably did represent a leap for mankind. I'd have loved to have been alive sitting watching that on the telly (in the pub).
  2. Ha ha, great post Mrs Woof!

  4. Well I see Khan did it, and apparently in good fashion. Fair play to him. I still think he's a knob though, and him talking about fights with the likes of Mayweather, is laughable.
  5. I'm at a stage where I'm torn. I would probably be swearing about this, but at the same time, sad that I wasn't going to this type of party anymore.
  6. So, 521 ahead, do they carry on and increase the lead tomorrow, or just get at them? It is not an impossible task for Australia with 2 days to do it, with some patient batting. Hopefully we can just batter them again!
  7. So, Khan gets his first title shot tonight. I know very little about his opponent to be honest, but I find myself wanting Khan to get knocked out. Not very patriotic of me I know, but as with the tennis, it's more about the individual than where he's from.
  8. Er, not sure there is really a great deal of "point" to it full stop, to be honest. I'll pick a team I guess, but am pretty sure I'll forget about it, and half of them will be long term injured, and I'll forget to change it.
  9. Quite right too. I also respect the fact he never dined out on it, and wouldn't even attend any reunions or discuss the war, until 2005! Born when queen victoria reigned, and died when america had a black president. He saw a lot of change. He was already an old man when they landed on the moon, and JFK was shot, what an innings that is! RIP.
  10. Can't be done, that is the prize winner! Can I just point out though that my shop isn't representative of our general household shops. It's just what I'll do if I have the chance! ;-)
  11. Well I can't afford anything just now. But hopefully I'll treat myself at some stage.
  12. I'll get my hair done especially.
  13. Yeah think my mate had that one. He rode a horse in to the mountains to see how far he could get before the horse died. Sicko ;-)
  14. That sucks TT, give me a shout if things change. Sean, I'll let you know if I'm going to make it.
  15. James I used to like all my colour, but a friend in headnizm used to do it all with a cut for about 20 quid. Once she'd gone back to Australia, it suddenly became very expensive, and I decided it wasn't worth it. Plus I am a bit to old and thinning at the back a bit if I'm honest, so I'd probably look a total knob if I had it done now.
  16. It's the same every year, and I love it. Am away this weekend, but hoping to get back in time to go on Sunday afternoon and skin up in front of the main stage.
  17. Sean, Fallout sounds like a futuristic one, I'm more of a swords and spells (read Zelda) fan. I do like the Metroid games though.
  18. He also stole Piers' face!
  19. Hmmm,I agree with you that there is a bit of a blame culture, and some people need to take more responsibility. However, I parent can raise their child in all the right ways, but if they live on a rough estate, it is still going to be difficult to keep them away from the temptation to go off the rails.
  20. 425 isn't a bad score.
  21. You're on great form this thread James... I do hope I'm right in thinking you're just messing. I once spent ?60 on my hair, in my younger days, when I had all sorts of bright red, copper, and black bits in it. I then remembered that I am a bloke. Basically, I just want hair that I can scruff up in 2 seconds and forget about.
  22. He has indeed. However, he didn't exactly "come up hard" now did he.
  23. Just seems a real shame after the good work of Strauss & Cook. Still, we'll crawl over the 400 line, and can then get on with having a good go at them!
  24. So, Saints appoint Pardew as manager. A mate of mine works for Charlton, and apparently Pardew was very very unpopular with staff there, he's a bit of a c**t by all accounts.

    Good book

Am I the only one who thought this thread was going to be about the bible? I was imagining Sean getting ready to come in and pull it to pieces, but not to be.
