I think the reason that the powers that be, are against it, is down to religion. This is one of those areas where organised religion is forcing a moral outlook on everyone.

Nail on the head there, we are all were influenced by our guitar heroes, which will have influenced our choices I guess. If I'm honest, it's probably why I started drinking JD and smoking Marlboro.

I agree that a player's style will shine through, but surely they will find the gear that suits that style best. Hendrix may have used every guitar under the sun, but basicaly he was a strat man. Tony Iommi is an SG man, and Slash is a Les Paul man, yes they could play anything else, and keep their style, but their sound would be that bit different. I prefer my classic good looks ;-)

I agree that there are risks involved regarding greedy relatives, and this must be thought about. However, if someone wants to die, who the hell are we to say they shouldn't be able to?

The question is "is there a God", not "does the christian God exist?". Noone can answer it, or even make a real educated guess IMO. I won't care either way when I'm gone if there is nothing. Moos, the equipment used by guitarists definitely makes a difference. Slash user a particular type of Marshall Amp and a Les Paul guitar. Change either, and his sound would be a bit different, even though his style would remain the same.
