  1. I can't wait to see him sacked! He is getting proper cocky.
  2. You got it spot on Reg. Gutted, would have liked to have seen Ramprakash, would have made a good story.

We used to have 2 music students (fit sisters as it goes, but I never mentioned that to Mrs Keef) above us, one played cello, the other violin and sax. They also have mates round for string quartet practice. I used to quite enjoy that, but at times they'd practice scales for literally hours on end. It drove me mental... Guess had they not been pretty and flashed little smiles at me on the stairs, I'd have said something. Tough guy me.
  4. Agree with Applespider. Have they bought it, or are they renting? Be as friendly as possible, and if they respond badly, contact the landlords (if there is one).
  5. Yeah, that's the title pretty much wrapped up for Arsenal now I reckon.
  6. Whether or not you have anything to do with the place, I'd give it a thumbs up. It does attract some bath dodging art student types, but for the most part, it's pretty cool.
  7. If anyone hasn't seen Babel, tune in to Channel 4 at 10:10 tonight. Quality film! I'll be recording it, as I'm not missing Match of the day for anything!
  8. Is it electric? If so, knock on the door in a friendly way, and ask them to turn down a bit. If it's acoustic, then you're stuck. Just go and have a friendly conversation with them if possible. A few years ago, we were upsetting our neighbours by playing loud guitars in our flat. If they'd come and asked nicely, I would've happily turned down. However, they put a rather aggressive note through our door, and so I turned up. Childish I know, but it was a good few years back, and I was not so considerate.
  9. Alan Hanson has predicted Liverpool, Chelsea, Man U, and Arsenal hanging on to 4th. I'll take that, although I'm not sure you can write off a team with 3 titles in a row. Also, Lawro makes a worrying point about the loss of Alonso meaning Gerrard may have to go looking for the ball more, which could take some sting out of the pool... At the end of the day, predictions are all rubbish, lets just enjoy it!
  10. Atila, I basically agree with you about the way the game is played, but what is the answer? Teams will do what they need to to survive, which is understandable. I see no way to change it.
  11. I was being simplistic with the left and right. My point was quite simply that it's a two party place. Here we have the mentalist parties for this kind of thing.
  12. Aston Villa 2 Wigan 0 Blackburn 2 Man City 1 Bolton 1 Sunderland 2 Chelsea 3 Hull 0 Everton 2 Arsenal 2 Portsmouth 0 Fulham 2 Stoke 1 Burnley 0 Wolverhampton 0 West Ham 2 Man Utd 3 Birmingham 0 Tottenham 2 Liverpool 2
  13. Whilst I normally defend the right of any team to do whatever it takes to win, I too hate "Big Sam", so I'm with you on this one! I still say though, if I was in the ring with a great boxer, I'd not give a toss about making him look good, I'd be holding on, and fighting dirty!
  14. Aw, just walked past Upton Park, isn't it just the cutest little place, I just wanted to squeeze it's little cheek.
  15. Sean, surely then the problem is simply that in America you are Democrat or Republican, right or left. That means that these 2 groups have to cater for everyone, so unfortunately, you get the opposition supporting this kind of nonsense. If it were here, the main opposition would for the most part, oppose it, leaving the loons of the far right parties to get stuck in.
  16. Sean, when I said the same situation, I meant exactly the same as in America. Of course it would benefit loads of people, and please don't suggest that I'd be in anyway against it. My point was, that it would meet huge opposition from those who had the good health plans, and didn't see why they should help fund anyone else. How was I unclear about that? Look at the recent theads on housing, and tell me we wouldn't have people kicking off.
  17. Quite right. Scotland is North, and maybe Newcastle. Everything colo that is pretty much Birmingham, until you get to London, which is South. Midlanders the lot of ya!
  18. Of course religous groups are a major part of US politics, but I just think this comes down to individuals. Imagine the uproar in this country if we were in the same situation, it would be the same as the "They're taking our jobs / houses / women" arguements we constantly hear.
  19. I agree with Mick, I don't see what religion really has to do with it. It's more that people think they'd be working to pay for lazy people. The American Dream is an individual thing, there isn't much room for helping your fellow man, unless he can put in a word for you somewhere.

    Fender or Gibson?

  21. You did see the word "American" in your own subject line didn't you? That just reminded me of a sociology lecturer (see The History Man), knowing exactly what he wants said, but just nudging the students towards his conclusion. Why didn't you just say so! ;-)

  24. By the way thomas thomas, did you get that profile picture sorted? ;-)
  25. Hello! Yes to all the above. Although it's not quite my second home anymore, since Candice and Mari left, then my daughter was born. But I still usually get in there on a Friday evening for a few beers, and it is still easily my favourite drinking establishment in the world, and the new crop of staff are a good bunch!
