    Petty Annoyances

"The Song Game"*, and especially the "Word Association" thread!!!!!!!!! * I know I have joined in with this, but it bugs the hel out of me!
  2. ianr Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------ > > It's the "chasing" that bothers me. How long does > it take to chase an old lady? I think it was an old lady dragon.
  3. No, was talking about me for previous spoil. That said, maybe she is, who's to say... Besides prop piers, you dropped a HUGE spoiler on me RE Bubbles! You were quite drunk though ;-)
  4. So I'm a mixed race lesbian snitch :-S
  5. Zooming through series 5. Enjoying it A LOT, but for the first time, I'm finding part of it to hollywood and unbelievable (the McNulty thing). Still great though, except another of my all time favourites has been killed off! Doubt he'll be the last. Episodes 8 and 9 tonight I think. Oh, and I want a cool name too :-(
  6. Agree with Moos RE ACAS, Mrs Keef used them when she was having a hell of a time with a psycho head teacher at a school she was teaching in, and said they were very helpful and informative.
  7. He sounds a lot posher than Hugh, more of a Prince Charles accent, but yes, he's a good lookin fella no doubt! Can't believe this, last weekend I leant my friend series 3 AND 4, and he's just text me saying he's finished. Said it was so addictive he was watching 4 episodes a time. That is commitment to the cause man! Don't worry Jah, I've told him you're first in queue for 5. He also said a complete 5 series box set is being released in December for those who want a xmas pressie!
  8. You're not alone Moos, a couple of the girls on here have found him rather dishy. Wait til you hear him speak in his (real) posh English accent, that should change your mind!
  9. No, had never seen Spaced before. It's one of the many many shows that I think looks good, but then forget to watch. That's why I like box sets, I don't have to make sure I'm in at 10pm on a Tuesday for the next 10 weeks! Myself and Aussie house guest a couple of weeks back watched the first 4 episodes with a joint and a few cans. Was funny, and I love the girl (liked her in Royale Family too), but the blokes just don't make me laugh that much, which is why I sat through Sean of the Dead in the cinema and didn't laugh (it has since grown on me thanks to drugs), and also why I will never even bother giving Hot Fuzz another chance having thought it was basically shite! That siad, Spaced definitely seems like it will be funny enough to make the effort, and Mrs Keef really likes it! Back to Wire I love the way each series gives you another take on the same ongoing story. It's interesting hearing the newspaper guys talk about something from a totally different perspective to the pooolice, same with the education system and the unions. I know you're not really meant to "like" him, but I am really really not liking McNaulty at the moment. He reminds me of a petulant drunk I know in real life.

    a joke

Reminded me of this. RON'S STORY It is important for men to remember that, as women grow older, it becomes harder for them to maintain the same quality of housekeeping as when they were younger. When you notice this, try not to shout at them. Some are over-sensitive and there's nothing worse than an over-sensitive woman. My name is Ron. Let me relate how I handled the situation with my wife, Julie. When I took early retirement last year, it became necessary for Julie to get a full-time job for the extra income that we need. Shortly after she started working, I noticed she was beginning to show her age. I usually get home from the pub about the same time she gets home from work. Although she knows how hungry I am, she nearly always says she has to rest for half an hour or so before she starts dinner. I don't shout at her, instead I tell her to take her time and just wake me when she gets dinner on the table. I generally have lunch at the pub so eating out again is out of the question; I'm ready for some home cooked food when I get home. She used to do the dishes as soon as we finished eating. But now it's usual for them to sit on the table for several hours after dinner. I do what I can by diplomatically reminding her several times each evening that they won't clean themselves. I know she really appreciates this, as it does seem to motivate her to get them done before she goes to bed. Another symptom of ageing is complaining. For example, she will say that it is difficult for her to do the shopping during her lunch hour. But we take them for better or worse, so I just smile and offer encouragement. I tell her to stretch it out over two or even three days. That way she won't have to rush so much. I also remind her that missing lunch completely now and then won't hurt her. I like to think tact is one of my strong points. When doing simple jobs, she seems to think she needs more rest periods. She has to take a rest when she has only half finished mowing the lawn and several extra breaks when she's vacuuming through the house. It does annoy me, vacuuming when I'm trying to watch 'Match of the Day', but I try not to make a scene. I'm a fair man. I tell her to make herself a nice cup of tea and just sit for a while, and as long as she is making one for herself, she may as well make one for me too. I know that I probably look like a saint in the way I support Julie.. I'm not saying that showing this much consideration is easy. Many men will find it difficult. Some will find it impossible! Nobody knows better than I do how frustrating women get as they get older. However, even if you just use a little more tact and less criticism of your ageing wife because of this article, I will consider that writing it was well worthwhile. After all, we are put on this earth to help each other, eh? Ron EDITOR'S NOTE: Ron died suddenly last week. He was found with a 24-inch Stanley screwdriver rammed up his a*** with only 2 inches showing. His wife Julie was arrested, but the all-woman jury accepted her defence that he accidentally sat on it.

Seeing your train pulling away from he platform and thinking never mind they're every 10 minutes. Only for the next one to turn up 20 minutes later!
  14. Not sure It's cut and dry. Panel have found in their favour, but the figure you quote is what they want, noone has awarded it to them from what I understand, and the hammers are speaking to their lawers. This will drag on. Don't see why hammers should pay out, if Tevez shouldn't have been playing, then it's the leagues fault for allowing it. Sour grapes and a load of nonsense in my opinion. Sorry Simon.
  15. Kicked off with 2 episodes last night, and straight back in to it. Does kind of make you feel like life aint really that bad around here doesn't it! :-)
  16. I'll be finding out his evening! Well, starting to anyway.
  17. Ha, I've just realised hat he first time I met Mrs Keef was in the British Legion of all places! There for a mutual friend's party. It was a couple of years and many more meetings through said friend before I finally managed to convince her that I'd be worth taking a risk on. Hope she doesnt regret the risk toooo much!
  18. 4 is wicked! Wasn't sure where it would go after 3, but it may well be my favourite series. Can't bring myself to do the whole sopranos thing again, love it, but there's just too much of it! We've been rewatching I Claudius, which is hilarious having watched Rome quite recently. By happy coincidence though, it does basically take up the tale right where Rome leaves it.
  19. To be fair to Hey Jude, it's quite a powerful song written as a show of support for Julian Lennon after his dad p!ssed off with Yoko. I just don't know why the "laaaa laa laa lalala laaa. lalala laaa Hey Jude" bit has top go on for sooooo bloody long!!!
  20. Can't wait! Jah, you shall be first on the list when I'm done with it!!! Moos, I'll bring series 2 down for you. Can you make it to the plough on Friday, or even just pop up? If so, I'll bring it then.
  21. Series 5 winging It's way to me, post from Amazon goes to oz parents as it's more secure, so think I'll be popping in to play the good son later! :-)
  22. Books have always needed balancing and players have been sold for that reason, but for a manager to have no control seems new. And That's players leaving the club, to have someone else bringing the players in, Dennis Wise for example, is just insane. I do think that Keegan has deserved the tag of quitter in the past, but don't blame him at all this time round.
  23. Nil all draw with Stoke, oh dear!
  24. Jeremy Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Jet, Band on the Run, and Live and Let Die are all > pretty good! Can't think of anything decent after > Wings though. What Jeremy said. But Guns N Roses improved Live and Let Die immensely.
  25. Well Wenger has had his first big referee moan of the season about it anyway ;-)
