  1. We're going off topic here but I have to say it really really bugs me when everyone brings up poor Victoria Climbie, and lays the blame at the door of the social worker, and the police. What about the medical staff that she saw who sent her home with a diognosis of scabis, and wrote to social services stating that there was no child protection issue? Then later sent her home with burns, having even noted that she was showing signs of neglect? Or, what about the church pastors who suspected abuse, but just preyed for the devil to leave the girl's body? I am not trying to lay the blame at anyone's feet in particular, but it just bugs me that social services got all the stick in the tabloid press. Most ironic thing is that they made huge reforms to the way social services work as a result of this case, and the main result is actually that the workers have far less time to actually get away from the office and see people. For the record, yes I do work for social services.
  2. And while I'm in the mood, anyone remember this from The Firm?
  3. I've told you Anna, Liverpool isn't proper North. Venture above Leeds at your peril!!!!! Don't for the love of God ever go to Middlesborough!!!!
  4. Brendan, lovin a bit of the Crue! B) But this is all far too serious... How about this...
  5. Much as they are a bunch of knobs, this is a classic from '87. U2 - With or without you
  6. I've always gone Forest Hill to Croydon then fast to Gatwick, but Option 1 is much the same. Definitely the best way via Croydon!
  7. Yo, wasssupp????? Haven't seen you in these parts lately.
  8. Posh, in Lee... ahem... er, not really sure what to say to that. Have you ever been to Lee? Hopefully it will be good though!
  9. Can't really have the 80s without a bit of Queen. Who wants to live forever Was never a massive Queen fan, but I do think that Freddie Mercury had one of the most amazing voices, and vocal ranges of anyone I can think of!
  10. Like that one Jah, from the "No reason to cry" album, along with "Sign Language" which is my favourite. My friend in misery - Metallica
  11. I used to work in a bookies in Liverpool, and it was a lot like a pub in many ways, with locals and banter. I really enjoyed it once I'd worked out all their little cheating tricks! Don't often bet myself, but will on occasion have a flutter.
  12. RE: Huntly, I agree that he never should have got the job, and I don't know how he did manage to without ful CRB checks, but I'm still not sure why he or his victims have been brought up in this thread, as that situation involving someone the girls knew, and his girlfriend (who they also knew if memory serves), bares no relation to this thing about a man in the park. Now, tiger ranks' post, and the earlier post about the man in The Hearne do suggest the possibility of something being amiss, in which case someone needs to check things out, such as, have the police had any local reports, have the local schools heard anything about a man with a camera hanging around? I still think the first thing to do is to confront this man (in a pair or more), and just ask him his business to see what he says.
  13. It isn't steep for the cimema (although it should be), but this isn't going to a cinema, it's watching an old film in the public park! Totally agree with you about Some like it hot though! >:D<

    Quiet room...

*Creeps in to room mummbling something to self about not getting involved in heavy discussions involving riled up parents* *Cracks open a beer* *Sits down and puts feet up*
  15. That is a very good point, but still has little or nothing to do with this thread really.
  16. Exactly, just grabbing the name of 2 murdered girls out of the air for a bit of scare mongering. FFS, White van man, kangaroo court bull sh!t.
  17. And yet they were killed by a trusted man who worked in their school. Not really a comparrable case at all. I don't understand why in a situation like this someone doesn't just walk straight up to the bloke. If he sees you coming and legs it, then you know something may be amiss. If he stands there and explains himself, you can make your own judgement. My mum has some lovely photos of my sister as a toddler in the park that she was given by some bloke who wanted to try out his new polaroid camera (this is approx '77). I do remember mum saying (years later) that she'd felt a bit funny about it at first, but the guy ended up being very nice and giving her every photo he'd taken. I know it's a different situation, but just made me remember it.
  18. Brendan Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Big hair and tight jeans, it?s what being a rock star is all about. In the later 80s perhaps... Early 80s it was all about the tassles baby! Crazy Train Damned shame about Randy Rhodea, he was the absolute bol!ocks on guitar!
  19. Will have to miss out on this, as I haven't yet nicked the game from my mate, and I don't seem to have time for anything at the moment... Haven't actually turned the wii on for at least a couple of months now. Stupid band :(
  20. But if we're talking proper 80s, you can't beat a ginger bird from Liverpool singing the best power ballad ever!!!
  21. I can't not add these 80s rock classics! Paradise City - Guns N' Roses Ling on a prayer - Bon Jovi - The hair man, check the feckin hair!!! I can't hear these at work either, so hope they are what they are meant to be!
  22. Don't trust the charity story Mw74, it's just her cover!!!
  23. Tune! That's one off of my greatest power ballads triple CD collection!
  24. We're keen to get this going again too, problem is just getting a court.
  25. See, It's the mines again.
