There are also Little Kickers groups in the area. A very good friend is operations manager and head coach for the area. I don't have kids, so can't speak from first hand experience, but they are very popular! They're also helpful, as THIS THREAD shows. "I've-met-jimmy" is my friend, but I don't know how often he reads the forum these days...

Harris Academy (new boys school for East Dulwich)
Keef replied to macroban's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Hmm, so it will have a sixth form (years 12 & 13????) then. -
Agree with Piers about the CPT (it'd my second home to be honest). But it's a nice place to sit with a group and have a drink, and in my opinion, it has the friendliest bar staff of anywhere in the area!!! :)-D

We're lucky enough to have a friend in the ticket office, and she's got us 6 tickets for the pavillion balcony via the members entrance.... Result! >:D< Well, if the weather is rubbish I'll see you in a bar somewhere! It is Friday night after all!!! :)-D

British Bulldog started with one person in the middle, and everyone having to get past him. s/he would tag as many as s/he could as they rushed by, and those people would end up in the middle, until you had all but one in the middle, and the poor old "one" had to basically run the gauntlet to get to the other side... They would of course get beaten down and stamped on!!! That's the way we played it anyway. Kabadi was classic! In secondary school we had a very violent version of cops n' robbers where one team would run of and hide, and the other team would hunt them down and physically drag/carry/beat them back to base... Great game, but cracked my first rib playing it (and I played rugby for the school.... soft game next to cops n' robbers!!!). A good game was "Patball"... Players would stand in a line by a wall, and a tennis ball would be "patted" diagonally from hand to ground, and bounce off the wall then the next person had to hit it... Was a really good game, especially when you employed great moves like the "low cut", the pat ball equivalent of a slam dunk! >:D<

Well the sun can bloody well put up with the tennis next Tuesday. I've never been before and my sister has got me a free centre court ticket.... Oh, and 2020 at the oval tomorrow had better be good! (last sunday we saw a 10-10 match cos the weather was so sh!te).....

Any self respecting "chav" will drink stella, simple as that! Now thats a stereotypical label I know, but so is the term chav... Both have little meaning in real life. Anyway, I'll buy you a pint :)

Yeah, play nice now ;-)

Fear, yep I've always drunk there! Seriously, it was still like that when I got back from Liverpool. -
Cool, cat fight like the ones between Alexis and Krystal in Dynasty! :)

Sorry, my post was meant to be lighthearted... Something must have gotten lost in translation :-S -

Penge is nowhere near as rubbish as everyone makes out. As for the incomers thing...... How about anyone who can't remember the "new side" of the CPT (the wooden floor and big windows side) being the spit and sawdust, red lino on the floor "public bar" with a dart board...... It only changed about 2001/02, so not as long ago as you might think.... ;-) Oh and before anyone starts, I'm not after a ruck about whether it was better then or not!!! >:D< -
I haven't been to the Gradens for a few years, so can't comment on it's current state. However, I always thought it would be an absolutely beautiful place to live!!! (tu)

Heh heh you said "arse" ;-)

ED saisburys is shut till thursday (it's now open again)
Keef replied to Dulwichmudlark's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Thats the fella! Only realised last week that it was now "Sainsburys" instead of SaverCentre. -
For Christ's sake, I don't read this section of the forum for a couple of days and the world has gone mad! Why would susyp come on here and make up some total lie about a random establishment?!?!?!? I believe you Louisa that this is very unlike the place in question, but that doesn't mean that everyone that has ever eaten there has had a good experience..... I would suggest susy try it again, and see how it goes. Then post on here.... (sorry if you all ready have, but I couldn't bring myself to read anymore!). I've not eaten there, and have onlt heard good things from friends who have, so Mrs Keef and I plan to try it...... Thing is Louisa, you know the owners, which is fair enough... I am very good friends with the guys at the CPT, and love the pub, but if someone came on here and said they'd had a crap night and a dodgy pint there, I wouldn't call them a liar.

The > ones to shy away from are those who own a single > rental property. I guess you're right generally, but alas Mrs Keef and I have been slightly less fortunate. Our landlords own lots of property (14 flats in my building alone), but they happily live down in Devon running their law firm, whilst employing cowboys to deal with the flats!!! On the bright side, the flat is huge for the rent we pay, and the location is great (not in ED). I used to be really bothered about being priced out of ED. I thought I was born in the area, my family still live there, why should I be priced out by these new people. However, having lived up the road for a year, I am more than happy to buy outside of ED... We'll get more for our small amount of money, and ED is easily accessible when we want it. As for all the other arguments about changes in the area, I like the majority of things, and dislike some, but there you go. If shops / bars are generally popular and doing good business, good luck to them, I'll just take my business to the CPT and go about my day :)-D Anyway, I'm going to save this post and paste it in to any similar thread in future, as I can't be bothered to write it again, and I'm sure the subject will come up.... Apologies in advance for repeating myself! ;-) -

Keef replied to Dulwichmudlark's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
For those who say Sydenham Sainsburys has nothing on DKH... Are you insane?!?!?!!?!? It's twice the bloody size of it! We are talking about the same shop aren't we? -

Does this mean that myself and Mockney Piers have to end 6 years of friendship in order to take our sides in a war we don't understand? :-S Seriously, I have just seen this thread. Some posts make me laugh, others make me cry. When will everyone stop saying that people from ED are all working class, poor people!!!!!! I'm from ED, and whilst I'm not a rich man, and couldn't give a toss what class I am dumped in to, I'm not signing on!!!!!!!

Well at least Jesus can stop weeping :))

It did indeed, it would also be shouted at mates in the pub... Basically it was a very rubbish general greeting ;-)
