  1. What about the scouse birds?
  2. Not a metaphor, just someone who might be out starting work at 3 or 4 in the morning.
  3. As long as he can heat beans, make toast, make pasta, and open a jar, he'll be fine. Or pull a girl in an all girls hall, befriend her mates, and get fed regularly when you pop over to see her. Worked for me.
  4. I have to ask, don't you have a home to go to? Why are you always out looking for weirdos on the streets in the early hours? Or are you a milkman? And if you are a milkman, could you take over our round, as our milk rarely turns up before I go to work!
  5. Don't go for the student account that offers a free ipod or something, go for the one that will give you the best deal on your overdraft! If you meet a scouse bird, you're probably in! Uni doesn't take that much work, but try doing some.
  6. Pleased for Holland, and not sure who I want to see in the final. I prefer Spain to Germany, but think a Germany Vs Holland final could be tasty. Plus, for me, Germany have earnt a place in the final already. Spain are somehow in the semis, but I just really don't know how! Well I do, and his name is Villa.
  7. I9 wasn't being a grump Mick, I was trying to be helpful, but couldn't search and link as was using my phone. Not quite the same, but anyway. For me, technical greats include Freddy Murcury. People that have "the voice" include Tim Buckley, and his boy Jeff. Kate Bush, Dave Grohl. Another one for me is Adam Lavine. Really not a fan of Maroon 5, but he has an interesting voice, and has recently done a track called Gotten with Slash, and I really like it.
  8. With regards supervision and wrapping in cotton wool, I agree completely that lots of parents are OTT. In Wells Park a while back, I saw a couple totally freak because their daughter (who looked 4-5) was standing on a wall that can't have been more than 10" tall. Even had she fallen off it, I very much doubt that she could have done any damage. This is obviously going a bit OTT. However, I still believe that a 5 year old (whether with an 8 year old or not) should not be cycling to school. I was given quite a long leash by my parents when I was a kid, I walked to school from about 7 (only a 5-10 minute walk), I played out on my bike / skateboard with other local kids, and never had any complaints about my mum not letting me do stuff. However, I am bloody sure that I would have cycled to school aged 5 over my mum's dead body! I also feel that it is putting a lot of pressure on the 8 year old. If something did happen, and the 8 year old saw the 5 year old get hit by a car. They are tyhen expected to keep calm, call 999, administer first aid? Thety are 8, and should not be burdened that way. That is basically my opinion in the cold light of a calmer day.
  9. I'm guessing (and really really hoping) that littleEDfamile was being tongue in cheek there. Anyway, I think the vast majority of ED is Zone 3 isn't it? To me, there are burbs, and there are BURBS. ED is not exactly inner city, but it doesn't really feel suburban. Sidcup... Now there is a bloody BURB!!! *shudders*
  10. We don't allow it to happen, it just does. Deal with it.
  11. Word! I have worked in a number of schools with visually impaired kids doing orientation & mobility, mental mapping and spacial awareness. As part of this, I have also involved their sighted peeers, and to be honest, the sighted kids are not much better (and in some ways worse) than the blind ones!
  12. Oh, and sorry for getting wound up yesterday, wrong side of bed and all that. I had wanted to take part in the debate, but got rather sidetracked.
  13. You'll never guess my real name.
  14. Sure this thread has been done before. Anyway, Solomon Burke.
  15. Well okay, but I don't think I was wrong. I don't usually call people names, but you get to me that much, I'll do my best in future to argue with logic and panache and rhetorical style, so that you might accept me for an equal, not something on the bottom of your shoe. You may not "stoop" to my gutter, but you do get personal, you just hide it behind your over confident persona on here. "Grow up and behave like an adult" coming from someone about 5 years younger than me. And you say you don't talk down to me? You really do have no idea about anything real do you? Anyway, back to the topic at hand then. Edit to say that I have removed previous posts because I was letting myself get a bit angry. I'll not delete this, as it is a direct response to another post.

  17. 1st anniversary is paper. I got the missus some Origami stuff.
  18. No I didn't, but of course you're always right, no quesiton. I'm usually the person who says class is a load of nuts actually, although you've tried to paint me as the one who "always" makes it about class. Whatever class these people are, I think a 5 year old cycling to school is fecking stupid. The fact is though David, that sometimes class, or whatever you want to call it, does make a difference, and that makes some people, a little bit uncomfortable, and defensive.
  19. Oh and I never mentioned class, and I'm size 10.
  20. D_C, not picking *bob* up on his posts, because he's rather funny and popular, and well, you know, Sean probably likes his posts to?

Chill out man FFS, it's a bit of fun!
  22. I'm with tropica. I'd heard something about wheel size, but nothing concrete. I thought that cycling on the pavement was illegal full stop, but would be pleased to hear otherwise.
