I was taking things a bit literally. It was the word "superior" that got me. I think female circumcision is dead wrong. But how can I say my opinion is "superior" to someone who thinks it's acceptable. What makes it superior? Am I in some way, a better designed human than them? It's just that word that gets me. It, in itself, suggests arrogance.

No one should believe that their opinion on anything is "superior" to anyone else?s, simple as that. If they do, they are quite simply arrogant.

Dn't see why anyone has a problem with Heskey being in the team. His England performances are quality. Ask Rooney who he'd most like along side him.

Our bass player got married in New York last year, and when they boarded the plane with the dress in a carrier, they were upgraded to first class, so you never know...

Copy of Lib Dem coalition agreement with Tories
Keef replied to James Barber's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Fair play, sorry, just reacted a bit there. I agree that we should wait and see how it goes to a pont, but I still feel sure Clegg could have pushed for more, on at least one of their biggest points. Anyway, it's done, and what will be will be... -
Copy of Lib Dem coalition agreement with Tories

Just to answer the somewhat patronising tones from Mockney and Brendan. Read back, my friend said "It is the terms of the deal that has left me feeling so betrayed and angry". He did not expect the lib dems to storm to power. He did not say that lib dems should go in with labour. What he is saying, and I agree completely, is that in going in with the Tories, the lib dems had a once in several generations chance to really have an impact. However, they have bent over and let the tories arse f**k them over all the main points that won them votes. There is a reason people vote lib dem, and that is because they are a bit different from the other two. They could have tried to change things from within, and driven a harder bargain, but instead, they have given up on all the important things, and just accepted a few scraps. Please don't label someone as naive, just because they show a bit of passion, and differ from your opinion. Most of the stuff I read on here is just pseudo intellectual drivel, regurgitated from last night's newnight, but said with the confidence of some sort of heavyweight political commentator. Very patronising, and dismissive. -

Quite. Just going back, I don't think y friend lacks insight at all, or that he was against a libcon deal. He just feels that they've conceeded in the most important areas. I agree. -

I can promise you, the chap who wrote it is not some sort of muppet who will follow a headline. He is someone with passionate beliefs, who feels cheated. Don't be so quick to dismiss. Yeah, but not really the big ones that won you a lot of your votes. I have traditionally voted Lib Dem, I didn't this time, but I literally felt undecided as I walked in to cast my vote. The things that I did like, that would have made me go Lib Dem, are the things that seem to be missing from this agreement. -

Then perhaps Clegg should push for this all party, + bank of England + whoever else, group, that he went on and on about, to look at the deficit, and tell everyone exactly where we stand. As far as I can see, they need to be as transparent as possible, letting the country know why they are doing things. That way, they can be judged fairly, and we'll be able to see if they are doing well or not. If they don't do this, they'll be slung out at the earliest possible opportunity. -

A good friend of mine, who has been very interested in politics since our school days (when the rest of us had no idea or interest, he was working at party conferences), sent the following to his Lib Dem MP this morning. He was Labour for a long time, and then went Lib Dem. He now feels betrayed. I suspect this won't be the only letter like this that various Lib Dems will be receiving. Edited to just leave the important points, and less of the emotion. -

What ratty said. This sounds like a possible Mental Health case (obviously I don't know this for sure, but it sounds like it to me).

Agree with Jeremy, Marmora Man's posts are usually well informed and, for me, quite interesting (even if I disagree), but that last one sounded like a direct quote from The Sun.

Does that even make sense? Stamp on some lesser mortals, who's going to stop us!

Hi Fuschia, try asking that on this thread in the main section. There is already some talk about school admissions, and I suspect you've a lot better chance of getting a response on there.

Very much agree that Parker should be in! I've always liked Bent, and still think he had a hard time at Spurs (they were saying he was sh!t when he was their top scorer), but don't think he's really up to the international level. That said, I don't rate Defoe much higher. Zamora has had a great season, and maybe he'd be that something different to bring off the bench....

PS. Who is in the Inner Circle these days?

Just to add my thanks for all the drinks the team have arranged in the last 3 years or so. I've not been to one in about a year, for various reasons, mainly the fact that I don't get out as much as I did pre baby, so when I am out on a Friday, it's usually catching up with pals. Drinks used to be really good, and I agree that a bit of a break could be what is needed before starting afresh. Besides, anyone who wants them to carry on, could always take the pressure off of Georgia, and sort them out.

Did he kiss you and stop you from shaking though?

My initial thought is that they shouldn't be in the squad in the first place if they know the birth is likely to be during the match. I don't think they should be dropping everything and leaving a job half done. That said, I definitely don't think they should be expected to miss the birth of their child, you wouldn't be in most jobs.
-
Very true. Just to be clear, I didn't mean I was glad a property developer had bought it, I just meant I was glad they were having to deal with the kids, rather than a family who just wanted to move in tot heir new home.

Oh my God, I can't believe I missed this thread, it is fecking genius! Bit late, but just to quickly throw in my 2p... Pretty much agree with *bob*. There is a place for squatting IMO, stories like Asset's (waaaay back) are examples of where squatting is acceptable, and even useful. This however, just stinks of a bunch of little tw@ts who wanted to have a nice play house in a nice safe area, because they'd be too scared to take over a flat in Brixton. I, like others on here, have been friendly with "propa" squatters in the past, and I suspect that they'd look at these children, and want to see them out on their ears. I am glad it is a property developer who has bought it, rather than a family who wanted to live there, but that doesn't make me any more sympathetic to you, I hope you get dragged out of there, and given a bit of a kicking for good measure. Sorry for bringing this thread back, just gutted I missed it, and felt the need to comment. Oh, and JAMESF, Made me laugh! >:D<

Having completely missed the whole squatters thread, I heard about it yesterday, and have been browsing through it. *bob*, as usual, came out with a gem!
