  1. chris' dad (?) fred was running it when we moved ed in 1988. he had been there since the arc dropped him off, so it must be the oldest established business in town. I do hope they are not being forced out. I always thought they ownded the freehold, but obviously not. this could be one for james barber to look into for us.
  2. to our super marvellous customers for making this our best pre-christmas weekend in our 21-year history. thank you all!!!!
  3. these things never mention the real lonmg-established giants of lordship lane, the ones nearer goose green
  4. what is beef rendang. is it thai, indonesian or what. dunno, but I suddenly fancy it
  5. hahah! what a wonderful and bizarre contribution to the mundanity of our everyday lives. the young lady is apparently "on the injection". what can this mean, except that one injection at least has been effective. surely james barber is the man to sort this out.
  6. Never mind Black Friday.... soooo last week! Look forward to PINK SUNDAY on December 8, Celestial's famed festive fandango, with a dazzling array of gifts and goodies at really attractive prices. Speaking of which, everything in the shop on Lordship Lane will be 15 per cent off. If that isn't warming enough there will be mulled wine and nibbles. Hohoho is from 11-5! See you then.
  7. it is all a huge hassle, but perhaps if james had collected the right info in the first place before spreading genuine alarm and outrage we would not have anything like as much wasted fury. 3 mini-closures a day is about the same as they had already pinched. this just makes their greedy intrusion legal and screw the tax-payers. in the meantime james, check things out more thoroughly.
  8. anyone know a number or email address for a plumber named jeremy, whose company is called green gauge?
  9. Silly me! Tomorrow NOVEMBER 27 is our birthday (see previous posting).
  10. Tomorrow Dec 27 is our 12th birthday at 34 Lordship Lane (although we were 10 years up the road round the corner before moving). To celebrate there will be a strong probability of bubbly, nibbles and... 12% off everything all day from 1.30-6! See you there
  11. donald... I would feel sorry for your friend as we all have, but would have curbed an instinct to lash out in a ludicrous manner. we all concerned, so back off.
  12. millhaven is just one of those forumites who likes to appear knowledgeable, particular about the media. as one who worked in fleet street for 1000 years, I can tell him he knows precisely zippo and should zip his lip pronto. btw, I have told him this myself. worra pratt.
  13. not really two italian places, just two pizza places. there is a world of difference.
  14. so many people on, such as donaldduck, are just plain unpleasant just because they can be. this is a very nasty place sometimes.
  15. TJ, you seem to have forgotten that people enjoying themselves is a very last thing many of the po-faced forumites want. there are people out there looking for a good time... and it must stop!! now!!
  16. well, that's all right then. thought they were just idling
  17. two weeks on and the tree damage on the path round by the pond and the streams in peckham rye park is still there and the cones still up. it took nunhead cem five days to clear up much more severe damage and reopen. it might be nice if someone gave this matter a little thought. followed by action
  18. sad truth is that london is not and never will be a safe cycling city. people on radio today trying to compare it with amsterdam etc. the two cities are chalk and cheese.
  19. workmen seem to be trying to cut up the fallen tree in peckham rye park, 10 days after it blew over.
  20. more than you can say for the peckham rye park path round the pond and streams. still closed cos a tree came down in the storm. praps we could borrow the big strong lads from nunhead graveyard. come on peckham rye!
  21. my observations to james barber were merely banter. we do know each other even though we do not share political philosophy. so myob, you two.
  22. as an afterthought, I have often wondered why parks are locked at night. it is not difficult to find gaps in railings and lots of people can easily climb over the fences. those who intend to sleep in the park simply don't leave at lock-up time.
