HSBC Dulwich Branch Is Closing
davidh replied to Dulwich Born And Bred's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
we are with lloyds. I sincerely hope they don't close. that would leave barclays as the only bank left in our thriving little high street. I have historical issues with barclays and would hate them to be only one left standing. -
drivers do not have right of way over pedestrians. drivers must OBVIOUSLY give way to those on foot. no brainer

we need a decorative metal fence type panel to be erected to separate our shop from the one next door.

I agree that blair is a tosser and hypocrite, but could never be accused of socialism. more's the pity

Reports of overly paranoid middle-class types in East Dulwich
davidh replied to NeilDani's topic in The Lounge
how very tiresome you are neil\dani. why would anyone want to make eye or any sort of contact with you both? please move. -
we have had cartons of milk and cream disappear from our doorstep many days recently. we have now discovered that a fox is the rascally culprit. we want to buy a hinged lidded container for the milkman to leave our goods in. does anyone know where such an item can be bought. please don't suggest making one. I am decorative rather than functional.

has anyone else had problems with dairy crest deliveries? we have had them for years, but recently there have been difficulties, with milk and cream cartons being damaged. yesterday we got no milk at all and apparently double cream was not available. (all the local shops of all sizes had plenty.) you cannot, of course, phone the local depot. everything goes through a call centre in the phillipines (honestly). I know we could easily go to shop every day, but we just like having a milkman.

london bridge trains again (6th Jan 2014)
davidh replied to jcrwillcox's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I was coming home from LB at around 6pm a couple of weeks ago. the train was about to leave and was rammed with people. after a minute or so, a very charming woman stood up and offered me her seat. I thanked profusely but said I was OK. I never realised that I looked that old! by the time we got through peckham rye, I wished I had taken her kind offer! -
slight diversion... is nunhead graveyard open again? we love taking our doggies there.

Can anyone recommend a local Accountant?
davidh replied to standswithfist's topic in Request a Tradesperson
contact gino at lcs in north cross road. top firm, they have handled our business and personal accounts for years -
after a mini-catstrophe on the stairs. section of plaster had bowed out and knocked a couple of pictures flying.

now appearing in ED shops are lovely, but would have been so much better if they had not omitted the excellent bookshop in dulwich village.

the neighbourhood vets have this as their out of hours emergency service. better to use local vst, unless you fancy the drive and parking difficulties
-
our neighbour's alarm used to go off for hours on end. eventually the council came and disabled it and stuck a notice through their door. it has not happened since.

recycling facility in car park at peckham rye park

sign on gates says storm damage. no idea if trees are down or if it is flooded. that path along from the main gate turns into a lake quite often.

and may the best of this year be the worst of next.

aircraft noise every day from around 4am. no better or worse than it has been for years. as a chronic insomniac, I can be really definite about it.

new hairdresser up and running where the art gallery was on north x road. now it seem yet another hairdresser is to open where the mother and baby shop was next door but one. this looks like commercial foolishness as there is already a salon just up the road... and loads more round the corner on lordship lane.
