  1. But Brendan did they supply any lube?
  2. Does anyone think the Knock off Nigel advert is a grim and blatant attempt to manufacture social pressure to make DVD or music copying a shameful activity.
  3. "My money tip for 2008 buy gold and guns, if you have the one you'll need the other to protect it" - agreed!
  4. Sounds good in your house - I need a holiday but don't fancy paying for a hotel - can I come and abuse you too pls?
  5. Haha - not yet, but I'll give you a shout when I have, Mr Hugs!
  6. I just got very nervous when my other two banks, Citibank and HSBC - both massive banks - had a wobble after the sub-prime debacle. I didn't mind using them when I was broke - high interest rates on the citibank current account, but now I'm earning, I don't want to give them my money for ethical reasons and cos I don't want it disapearing!
  7. If they are not concerned about your feeling or the feelings of your family, then I wouldn't be so concerned about their feelings, they seem pretty thick skinned to me - so if I was you, i'd sit them down and explain that yes you made an open ended invitation, but you didn't expect them to behave the way they have. Now that you have experienced what it is like to have them in your home, you have to re-evaluate your offer, and if they continue to act in a way that upsets you and your family, you're sorry but you will have to ask them to go for their original option of staying in a hotel. You tried it, it didn't work for you so you need to ask them to go as you have a right to be happy in your own home.
  8. Since I am now working and I want to make sure my hard earned doesn't end up disapearing up some city boy's nose or in some high risk gamble, I changed my bank account to the ethical invester, the co-operative bank. Do you think the ethical and mutual banks might do better now the others have all been exposed by their dodgy unethical investments?
  9. It's not the flying there I'm worried about as much as being stuck in a country where I will be viewed as an outsider when the global recession heading our way hits.
  10. I saw some nice painted ones being used as little shops and bars in Jamaica - they didn't look rusty, but I don't know how long they had been there.
  11. I love travelling and lived in Canada as a kid. I always thought I'd end up dragging all my kids to some other country to live, but now with the hastening effects of climate change and deminishing resources in our faces, the idea of becoming the hated incomers blamed for the economic collapse of my adopted country by their xenophobes is enough to make me think twice, or plan to start stockpiling weapons!
  12. Sod the neighbours - go for it!
  13. I'm worse off, but that's cos I no longer run my own lucrative business and started everything again in a different area a few years back. I like the tax credit's I get tho as I don't think I'd have had enough money to eat when starting off as self-employed without them a couple of months back. They give me more than I got on income support, except I have to pay my rent (well my lodger does that for me) so even though I hate all the corporate pigs in the trough, I have to admit tax credits help the transition for people who want to get back into work. I see the tories have decided they are a vote winner and reckon they won't scrap them, well not straight away anyway!
  14. Did u get any drinking buddies?
  15. I'd have to be earning over ?60,000 cos of my kids and as a new fee earner, I'm waaaay below that! So my credentials are intact thank you very much!
  16. Huggie darling - you know I've only just joined the paper shuffler brigade cos my poor old body could no longer take all the manual work I'd put it thru in it's younger fitter days and getting a degree as a mature student doesn't bar you from being working class - that was the 'we' I was talking about.
  17. I would like to point out that since enclosures all us peasants have been turfed off our land and been made into the 'working class'. If we think the work you want us to do to survive is shit, give us back our land and we won't need your bloody benefits.
  18. Very healthy that is Brendan, I'd recommend everyone do that! So because we are expected to sell our soul to 'The Man' and anything that results in lower productivity, like breeding, getting sick, suffering from depressed, or being born disabled should be discouraged and we should all push our health and sanity to the limits to make our bosses rich, unless we are the bosses, then we get others to pay this health tax on our behalf instead.
  19. If sick/depressed/incapacitated people were allowed to keep their benefits and work part-time or even full-time if they could manage it, don't you think that would be the way forward instead of scaring the crap out of already vulnerable people. If you are sick/depressed/incapacitated you often have good days and bad days, the current system of all or nothing benefts is a dicsincentive to anyone in that position to even attempt to start working. The way the system is set up is what causes the dependancy culture, not the people who have become dependant on it.
  20. Trinity from 'The Matrix' or Therman in 'Kill Bill'. Whatshername in Alien is pretty cool and the woman from Terminator is the dogs bollox. edited for appalling spelling
  21. Well done Assett - just read this. I'm impressed, you must have put in a lot of work to get a first - good stuff. Aren't you glad it's over tho?? Congrats BN5 and KK, and PR too!!
  22. I remember a young black guy about 20 years old who looked a bit spaced out asking me for some money down Walworth Rd but I said as I was going to Bagel King, I'd get him something to eat instead. He ordered a pattie in coco bread and asked for a Ribena, so I agreed. Then seeing that I must have been in a generous mood, he asked for cake and custard to finish off! I got talking to him and ascertained that he wasn't on crack but on medication for mental illness and saw him quite a few times after that and fed him. I remember one time though that he was really rough looking and talking to himself in a really agitated way. He didn't remember me and I've since seen him around Peckham and Dulwich, he sleeps in Peckham Rye park sometimes in the middle of the grass. He doesn't even seem to beg anymore. It seems sad that someone so young can be so messed up.
  23. Yeh I was wondering about the jogging bottoms too. Did he go home in his boxers or something? The whole thing is just too baaazaa
