Thanks, yes that was Nikki Adams from the English Collective of Prostitutes. She is very good, stays calm despite provocation (not my forte!). Bindel is notorious for shouting people down and I'm glad we managed to get a few important points accross.

I was too nervous to talk as well as I'd wanted to, but the talking over eachother didn't help. Bindels mike seemed to be up loud most of the time though so more of what she said than the others was heard, plus I think she is used to pushing her bitesize points without worrying about explanations or if they are actually true. I'll try to do better next time!

I would love to see a bar that did as many non-alcoholic drinks as alcoholic ones, for those of us whose livers have been begging for mercy. It's sad that the only interesting adult entertainment around here always invovles alcohol.

One thing you need to think about regarding responses is that some people get brave in their anonymity and say pretty horrible things they might not otherwise have the balls to say to someone face to face. You need to be able to weed out what is brave but good critisism and what is cowardly and abusive. The way I would deal with that is by imagining what sad and crappy lives the nasty posters have and letting their comments slide off like water off a ducks back. Never take any of that kind of stuff personally as it is really a reflection of the poster, but be prepared to receive it.

I auditioned for the part of stunt double for Judge Hershey (is that the name of Dredd's female sidekick?) for her big fight scene at the end, but somone else form our TKD club got it cos I wasn't skinny enuf.

I think one of the reasons my Dad has never had a fight in his life actually might be some wierd ability he has to talk himself outof situations, which probably helped! Plus I think it was about 5 years ago that he went back and things can change in 5 years, so it might be a different scenario if he went back now.

I hope Obama gets it, Hilary seems as slimy as any of her male counterparts.

My Dad was brought up in South Africa and went back to Cape Town for a visit a few years back. My Aunty and his cousins told him not to go to certain 'ghetto' areas because they were dangerous, but he took no notice and went to a lot of the places most white people think are no-go areas in South africa. My Dad is a humble guy and was a political activist (as was his Dad and Uncle) in South Africa (before him and his family were told to leave!) but has never had a physical fight in his life, so maybe that was why he got a warm welcome. I think being aware of the poverty and being sensitive to the problems caused by the huge gulf between the haves and have nots in South Africa might help.

I'm supposed to leave them in for a week, before letting them run around the garden, but yes, I hope to free range them as much as possible.

Just logged back in, I've been really busy. I hope they do air it, but I think Ms Bindel may try to get an injunstion because she was a bit outnumbered, but she is usaually a bully to any sex workers who are arguing against her, myself included about 10 years ago, so I think some of the women used it as an opportunity to get their own back. But like I said the evidence is that these kind of repressive laws are much more harmful than decriminalisation or even legalisation which is far from ideal. I managed to get many of the important points accross, so it would be a pity if they didn't air it because of Julie Bindel's vanity.
