  1. Yep I'll have my list plus Lizzy's list thank you very much. One at a time of course cos I'm not greedy!!
  2. I am a car driver and a cyclist. I know how hard it is to see cyclists through a less than clean windscreen or when it's raining or misted up, so I always have my lights on the flashing option because they are a lot more visible to car drivers. I used to have a light on my bike and one on my helmet for lorries to see, but I don't use a helmet anymore because I find them restrictive, so usually wear a hi viz jacket. It surprises me when I am driving a car and I see people cycling with low lights or no extra visability gear, because they are often really difficult to see. The fact that you have to look through a windscreen reduces visability straight away, and then like I said if the windscreen in misted up or dirty, or it's raining or even if the sun is low and shining into the car cyclists are very difficult to see. Add to that the fact that many people have eyesight problems and may have weak or no glasses - cyclists need to make themselves as visible as possible.
  3. They are all crap My choices are: LL Cool J Jack Nickolson Brad Pitt Damon Wayans Joaquin(?) Pheonix Richie Spice that'll do for now
  4. I should get there about 9:30 ish
  5. The wwoof organisation was recommended to me by some friends. You stay on organic farms around the world including the UK and learn about organic farming and sustainable living.
  6. I'm just off the top of Friern Road
  7. I lived in Canada as a kid and loved it. We were in a very rural area which was beautiful, but my best friend kept in touch with me and a lot of the people I went to school with are either alcholics, on drugs, suffering from depression or all of the above. My friend has managed to keep her sh!t together but one of her daughters is a crystal meth addict and has been arrested for all kinds of things. The population of the town we lived in was only 2000 when I was there in the mid 70's and is now 4000, so even though it's a small rural community, there are still a lot of social problems. Also the social safety net is not as good as the UK according to my friend, so you can end up in poverty much more easily.
  8. Maybe go for Red satin and soft porn pics, make it a bouduoir as hommage to your new empowered singledom.
  9. so is K, W and Y
  10. I always just bang a masonary nail into the wall and hang my pics on that!
  11. My last British Gas Bill for 3 months was ?177, which is high because I only have the hetaqing on for an hour in the morning and about 3 hrs in the evening, so I think they are expensive.
  12. Grim stuff. I'm not one to judge other people, but couldn't bring myself to watch this programme.
  13. Never give before you receive (plenty), is my motto!
  14. Academy's are privately owned (sold to businessmen on the cheap) and there isn't a lot politicians can do to stop a money grabbing @rsewipe from closing down costly bits.
  15. Wouldn't it be nice if all schools were good schools and all this moving house and fraud wouldn't need to happen. After reading this though I think I'll try Kingsdale for my daughter.
  16. Materialistic consumerist displays of 'status'
  17. I think it's all about communication. If you can say unpleasant but necessary things to adults or kids in a way that doesn't seem like you are just having a go that's a start. Obviously some people are more sensitive to issues and become more defensive than others so you need to be able to stand your ground without getting aggressive and find a way to neutralise their hostility to what you are trying to say. It helps if neither of you are drunk or pulling them up in front of an audience, but backing down and appeasing an irrate parent/child is not the answer. I try to talk about things when they are small-ish to try to prevent them becoming bigger and more heated.
  18. They were talikng about it on Radio 4 the other day too.
  19. I think it's pretty shitty the way they have ripped her apart, even if she is a bit nuts and I don't think saint Paul is real. He seems like a slimy tw@t to me. Anyway just incase anyone still thinks there is no global warming read this.
  20. The estate my kids grew up on seemed to be fine with collective parenting, so i just shout, "oi, stop it" or something similar and give them a lecture on how it's not nice to do this or that or the other, if I see anyone's kids doing anything naughty. The habit has stuck so I find it difficult not to chastise kids being naughty/mean to eachother/fighting etc and my "oi" is very loud and accompanied by my furrowed brow so seems to work!
  21. I have planted loads of fruit bushes round the edges of my back and front gardens including: rasberies, goosberry, blueberry, redcurrant, blackcurrant and tay berry, strawberry grape, plum tree (dwarfing), kob nut bushes, a dwarfing apple tree and something called a family tree with apricot, nectarine and peach all grafted onto one tree, plus rhubarb and asparagus. You can get a lot of fruit bushes and trees really cheap (and the ones I've bought seem to be ok) from Lidl and poundstretcher if you are quick. I ordered a lot of mine online last year tho from deacons nursery and keepers nursery.
  22. He isn't my type but he is intelligent and fast with comebacks, so gets my vote. I also reckon he'd be nasty (cos he has no hangups) in bed so he gets two votes off me!
