  1. Ook! I love how they got him down in the end.
  2. I wonder whether Oswald Mosley was one of these awful pasta-munchers. I imagine he probably was, given he was such great mates with Il Dulce.
  3. I've been here all my life, and the idea of living anywhere else seems odd. Could do with more space, mind you...
  4. At the moment I've got the 18-70 f3-4.5 and the 50 f1.8. I'm hoping I can use the 85 f1.4 for portraits and perhaps also some tabletop stuff. After getting the 50 at f1.8 and then wishing I'd got the f1.4 I think I'd rather save up a bit longer and splash out a bit more for this one. A good wide lens would also be great though and is definitely on the list. Sigma 10-20 or perhaps another fast prime.
  5. I'm contemplating dropping around ?550 on a lens. Am I mad? It's a Nikon 85 f1.4D, by the way. Saving up for it, and about halfway there, so I have a while to decide whether or not this really is a good idea.
  6. Yes, I've seen it. Quite like it. I think the short stubby ones like that may be date palms, but someone who knows more about this sort of thing may well know better.

    Bad friends!

I think Brendan's hit the nail on the head. It's so easy to set up charity sponsorship pages online and send off requests for donations that I seem to get hit up at least once a month. I'm not that rich and I can't afford to drop a tenner every time someone I vaguely know decides they want to cycle backwards up Kilimanjaro wearing a pink tinsel wig and then parachute back down from the summit, or whatever it is they've decided to do. I choose instead to donate money to a charity that means something to me. It's not a big charity and it needs all the help it can get, so I'm happy to support it over something like Oxfam or Breast Cancer which already have quite a lot of cash.
  8. Maybe he just left a word out.
  9. Careful with those sharp food-processor blades. They'll lop anything off.
  10. Public Enemy - Fight the Power
  11. Starting on Portnoy's Complaint by Philip Roth again. Read it many years ago when I was, I think, too young to appreciate it properly. Can't remember a thing about it. I'm sure lots of it went over my head back then. Am expecting to enjoy it much more this time round. So far, so good.
  12. That Mockers is rather good with his soul-stealing doojigger. There's a few of us who meet up now and then for a pint, a stroll and some snapping. Why not join us next time? (Don't know when that actually is yet, but we'll post details here when a decision is imminent/made.) Also, funny, but I too messed about with the old-pic look just recently. Must be something in the air.
  13. Turning Japanese.
  14. Poor show, jrussel. Very obvious trolling. You are awarded a D minus, which puts you in danger of failing the internet. Go and see teacher after class and think about applying yourself more in the future.
  15. The theme music to Big Cook Little Cook. (Gah!)

    Behold!

Oh. My. Gosh. Them's special pictures. :)
  17. Started off quite well this morning with I Chase the Devil by Max Romeo. Went downhill later with various bits of music from Mario Kart Wii, and now is really scraping the bottom of the barrel with some Kaiser Chiefs dross (I can do anythi-iiiiiing, dooby do do).
  18. Well done!
  19. Still, give him some credit. At least he waited until the kids were "three... five, six months old" until he smoked in the same room as them. *sigh*

    Behold!

Talking of bacon, how brilliant is this? Now there's a man who knows how to treat his missus on her birthday.

    Behold!

The pancake sausage on a stick looks foul, yet also enthralling. Plus, someone in one of the comments used a rather good phrase that I fully intend to steal and use as my own.

  23. You know, it never occurred to me to start a new thread just for that. But maybe I will.
  24. edited away to dedupe.
