  1. I definitely think they're worth it. Our eldest is still in hers and she's pushing 7 years old. She can use a normal chair of course, but the Tripp Trapp is still more comfortable for her and gets her to a better height at the table. We use the straps for our 2.5yo. We could probably get away without them but they do tend to calm his wriggliness (if that's a word) and keep him in there for slightly longer than the time it takes him to cram his fish fingers in. (He likes to eat fast and get back to his toy cars as soon as he can.) Definitely good if you want a chance to wipe your toddler before they abscond.
  2. 50p per gnasher here.
  3. Is it lee-do or lye-do?
  4. I was there on Saturday for the first time. It's good fun but bloody hilly. Still aching today.

Tarot, your friend needs to decide which he dislikes least out of a) hats, b) suncream or c) a sunburnt bonce and then act accordingly. Or perhaps he could erect a little parasol over his stall. Maybe a nice antique one.
  6. Ask for a seat. It resolves the pregnant-or-just-fat dilemma which keeps a lot of people quiet.
  7. The eldest Antling (6) informed me gleefully the other day that kids were using the s-word at school. She asked if I knew what it was but was too excited by the naughtiness of the whole thing to wait for my answer (let me off the hook!) and told me it was 'stupid'. Which is quite sweet on many levels. edited to add: that angry face was meant to be a six in brackets. Not sure why it came out like that!
  8. You're all wrong. It's going to be a roller disco.
  9. I keep on thinking the time has come to get a bike, but what I'd like to know is where people keep their bikes overnight? Our house is pretty small so there's not really room to bring one inside. Are those bike box things any good?
  10. I was six years old and oblivious; I've only ever known of him as dead. Kurt Cobain was probably the version for people my age.
  11. Hardest land animal? Probably a frozen guinea pig.
  12. Very odd way to raise funding for a legit business, don't you think? Definitely a scam if you ask me.
  13. If you missed it (or just want to hear it again) you can listen here: http://bit.ly/gpFF0R
  14. Just saw this and thought people might be interested: "The Online Networked Neighbourhoods Study explored the ways in which people communicate online using local citizen-run websites, the impact of that communication, and the implications for local service providers. It focused on three well-established sites around London: Brockley Central, East Dulwich Forum and Harringay Online." http://networkedneighbourhoods.com/?page_id=409
  15. I got a 40 into town from the library but it was, shall we say, experimental - at least until Camberwell, after which things were easier. Slow going the whole way though. Walking may have been quicker.
  16. Southern website says all service suspended. http://www.southernrailway.com/your-journey/live-running-information/
  17. I often think it's a shame that I can't put boring people straight to voicemail when talking face to face. Or report people trying to hand me free crap/sign my up for randmom charity x as spam.
  18. It's been due to happen for much longer than that. Glad they've finally got round to it.
  19. Yes! They keep very quiet about that when they're trying to sell you an iPhone (unsurprisingly of course) but it's a fairly big feature to just miss out entirely. According to a guy who used to work for them it's because their network's just incapable of handling it, so it's pretty unlikely ever to be available on Orange.
  20. iPhone 3GS on Orange. Mobile coverage is dodgy and getting worse. 3G network is beyond bad, laughably rubbish. I suggest avoiding it at all costs. I've been with Orange for years and never had any trouble until they started offering iPhones, after which it all dropped off a cliff - I think their network just isn't up to it. Shall be moving elsewhere as soon as I'm out of contract.
  21. >Where does the Sixpence under the pillow come from. ? Very good question - where do you get a sixpence these days? Fairly sure the tooth fairy went decimal before I was even born...
  22. Another vote for Aoife, she's great with kids (and adults too).
  23. BTW the Burbage Road one is on Saturday, not Friday.
  24. >Shouldn't it be dodgy goings on? Yup.
  25. I'm sure most parents will have these links already, but just in case anyone's missed them: http://www.goodrich.org.uk/ - see under diary for term dates etc. http://www.friendsofgoodrich.com/ - for PTA news
